Job Description:

Under direction and supervision of Registered Nurse, assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) and behavioral coping skills, provides clinical intervention, and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patient for examination.
  • Explains procedure in layman terms to relieve patient of anxiety.
  • Ensures patient is screened according to protocol, and assures consent for the procedure has been obtained, when necessary.
  • Positions patient on examination table for optimum testing procedure and conditions.
  • Performs nuclear and nuclear cardiology procedures as prescribed by ordering physician. Sets-up equipment to administer prescribed procedure in timely fashion.
  • Calculates, prepares and dispenses radiopharmaceuticals to patient. Documents radiopharmaceuticals dispensed.
  • Monitors patient condition during examination, recognizing and reporting abnormal changes.
  • Obtains images of anatomical area of interest, utilizing proper techniques to ensure appropriate views are captured.
  • Collects all pertinent data and calculations for physician interpretation.
  • May determines need for more extensive evaluations beyond preliminary instructions.
  • Acknowledges and reviews images in computer system. Ensures accuracy of all patient data. Processes imaging and prints CDs, as required.
  • Gathers previous related patient reports, as required.
  • Performs regular maintenance and calibration of Nuclear Medicine apparatus and auxiliary equipment.
  • Adheres to Infection Control guidelines in the performance of duties. Maintains cleanliness of work area, equipment and accessories.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Work Shift: 8:00AM -4:00PM /Flex Days (PER DIEM)

Job Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program, required.
  • Current New York State Department of Health licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, required.
  • R.T. (N) registration with American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) OR CNMT registration with
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required.
  • Prior Nuclear Medicine experience, preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, required.
