Job Description Summary
Under the general direction of the Transportation and Parking Managers, supervises and ensures safe and efficient day-to-day transportation, enforcement, and parking operations. Plans, organizes, and coordinates workflow to maintain consistent levels of service to faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Participates in the recommendation and administration of operational policies, procedures, and processes.
Primary position hours are Wednesday - Sunday from 3:00 p.m. -11:00 p.m., but working rotational flexible shifts (days/hours) will vary based on special events and other university needs. Working weekends will be required frequently.
Job Description
Essential Functions:
  • Supervise staff working on an assigned shift to ensure consistent levels of service.
  • Evaluates, monitors, trains, and disciplines as necessary to ensure smooth operations following established policies, rules, regulations (including DOT) to maintain staff accountability and ensures safe behavior and practices.
  • Enforces university parking rules and regulations, including issuing citations, booting and towing vehicles as needed.
  • Checks parking lots and university property for damaged property, unsafe conditions, missing signs, and provides parking lot maintenance and improvement suggestions.
  • Assists w/ driver or enforcement relief as needed.
  • Schedule drivers for special events beyond day-to-day operations.
  • Investigates complaints, resolves escalated disputes regarding citations, provides parking information, and performs accident investigations as needed.
  • Assists with transporting vehicles to the repair shop, as requested.
  • Conducts annual reviews.
  • Builds rapport with students and employees, allowing them to have a sense of safety.
  • May need to fill in for a shuttle driver or enforcement as needed.

Other Functions:
  • Assigned special duties to assist Transportation and Parking Services as needed and requested.
  • Provides backup for the Director of Transportation and Assistant Director of Parking Services in their absence.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • High School diploma and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Two years of experience scheduling personnel, events, and/or staffing.
  • Two years of experience equal in scope to the requirements and duties of the position.
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the University's automobile insurance, must be insurable.
  • Good driving record and possession, at a minimum, of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B with Passenger Endorsement, or the ability to obtain a CDL.
  • Proficiency in computer use for timekeeping and training.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and make logical decisions.
  • Ability to work holidays, weekends, day/night, and overtime.
  • Demonstrates dependability.
  • Computer experience using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrates superior organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to co-workers.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement, using logical reasoning, in the analysis and solution of problems.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task.
  • Ability to interact and respond to a variety of requests from co-workers, staff, students, and the University community in a professional and courteous manner.
  • High degree of energy and initiative, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to resolve difficult or stressful customer service issues courteously, tactfully and fairly
  • Experience utilizing specialized parking and fleet tracking software (e.g., T2 Flex, Passio) and automated access control systems (LPR).

Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for supervision of shuttle drivers and parking enforcement officers.
  • Works under the general direction of department management.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk or stand for long periods.
  • Heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Climbing, crouching, standing, walking, lifting, talking, hearing.

Environmental Conditions:
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions; subject to occasional extreme heat and cold; subject to hazards.
