Laser Drill Operator - Entry-Level - 6 days a Weeks Lots of Overtime!

Job Description

The Laser Drill Operator uses state-of-the-art Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment to drill high-precision holes into rigid and rigid-flex multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role is perfect for a motivated individual who is reliable and has a keen eye for detail. As an operator, you will manage tasks related to machine setup, product quality, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform job-related tasks as instructed by the supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Assist with the removal of copper flash from panel edges.
• Visually inspect panels for surface defects.
• Read and understand applicable process procedures and safety rules.
• Set up, load, unload, and operate CNC drill machines with minimal supervision.
• Load, unload, and set up appropriate drill cassettes according to traveler drill sizes.
• Drill First Article (F/A) panels and make appropriate table adjustments.
• Verify internal hole registration and annular ring using the X-Ray machine.
• Maximize productivity by maintaining drill machines active.
• Discontinue processing when a non-conforming condition is found and report it to management.
• Perform all tasks and routine maintenance as required by process procedures.
• Accurately complete all departmental, quality, and lot tracking documentation.
• Assist other operators when time allows.
• Collaborate with management/shift supervisor to ensure appropriate personnel are scheduled to meet departmental goals while minimizing overtime.
• Actively seek process improvement activities to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
• Maintain drill inventory.
• Evaluate new technologies, materials, and techniques.
• Support and implement company policy and procedures.
• Assist in training assigned personnel.
• Schedule preventive maintenance for departmental equipment.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Essential Skills

• Experience in production and machine operation.
• Proficiency in drilling and machine operating tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Strong knowledge of complex board manufacturing, including military rigid and rigid-flex board manufacturing.
• Understanding of industry standards and specifications (IPC).
• Effective communication skills with management and supervisory staff.
• Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
• Ability to support and implement company safety protocols.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position requiring availability during standard business hours, with mandatory weekend overtime as needed to meet production goals. The work schedule is 3rd Shift, from Monday night through Saturday morning, 11:00 pm to 7:30 am. The role requires the ability to stand and walk throughout an 8–10-hour shift and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. The environment fosters a culture of safety and cleanliness, and the dress code is in line with standard manufacturing operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Placentia, CA.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr.
