Job description

The operations manager of our Distribution Center in Madison, Wisconsin will oversee daily warehouse operations servicing our Vita Plus facilities, dealer network and direct-to-customer business throughout the Midwest. A successful candidate will have a track record of implementing process improvement initiatives, excellent communication and management skills, strong interpersonal skills and experience leading technological adaptions.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience managing and leading teams across multiple shifts
  • In depth knowledge of electronic inventory management systems
  • Substantiated process improvement initiatives within warehousing, inventory management, safety, customer service, and invested capital that increased profitability and customer retention while strengthening culture
  • Proficient at optimizing warehouse space, stocking levels, and seasonal product turns reducing operating costs and overall working capital
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing and improving financial performance in distribution assets
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information
  • Proficiency with software as required
  • Has the ability to safely lift, carry and stack feed bags; occasionally moving up to 55-pounds
  • Must have valid driver’s license with appropriate vehicle insurance


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Manage company location distribution functions and employees
  • Lead all safety and food safety initiatives: training, inspections and accident investigations
  • Oversee all maintenance, housekeeping and equipment upgrades
  • Maximize utilization of personnel, equipment, and technologies to best serve customers and create efficiencies
  • Recruitment, development, and evaluation of Warehouse Associates


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Office/warehousing facility environment: desk and computer work, uneven/slippery work surfaces, truck lot conditions
  • On farm visits with varying conditions
