Job description

Pay Range:$25.00 - $30.04

This position provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff at assigned locations or areas.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

  • Patrols campus and assigned areas to monitor for conditions or situations which pose a risk to the safety of people or property.

  • Provides routine comprehensive security services, including:

    • Assistance with patient restraint;

    • Intervention in disruptions by patients;

    • Traffic control;

    • Guarding and patrolling physical property;

    • Escorting visitors and employees;

    • Monitoring systems;

    • Orienting and monitoring of personnel working in high-risk areas;

    • Investigation of incidents;

    • Access control;

    • Enforcement of visitor policies;

    • Respond to emergencies;

    • Respirator fit testing;

    • Hazard surveillance surveys;

    • Participation in emergency drills; and

    • Public assistance requests.

    • Other duties as assigned

Additional Details:

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Alaska driver's license

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days

  • IAHSS Basic certification within 3 months

Experience Required

  • Six months of security-related experience

Knowledge of

  • Security policies and procedures

Skills in

  • Effective communication

Ability to

  • Defuse potential security situations, including aggressive individuals

  • Exercise good judgement in stressful and emergent situations
