What does a Greenhouse Worker do?
As a Greenhouse Worker this fall, you will jump right into the action! Your primary tasks will include, but are not limited to, working at a cutting table to prep decorative boughs and accents (such as Spruce, Norway Spruce and Dogwood) or working at a conveyor assembly line to insert these elements into finished decorative planters. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role perfect for individuals who enjoy assembly work and holiday crafting. Other responsibilities may include hand-watering plants, staging plants onto carts, moving and spacing plants for optimal growing and a vast array of cleaning and organizational projects around the greenhouse.
Our seasonal needs begin the week of September 14th and end on November 27th. Our hours of operation are 7:30am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday with hours extending to 5:00pm during the month of November. The opportunity for adding weekend hours and extending your daily hours is available as peak season arrives. Requirements for this Greenhouse Worker job
To thrive as a Greenhouse Worker this fall, you must be at least 16 years of age (in compliance with labor safety standards). A passion to learn and work as a team is key in this role, along with a strong work ethic and the willingness to roll up your sleeves and work hands-on with plant materials. Strong communication skills and the ability to problem-solve will go a long way in helping you collaborate with your teammates and be a part of creating efficiencies to help enhance your work experience.
Essential Physical Job Functions:
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions for trimming and planting.
  • Ability to work safely adjacent to moving conveyor belt equipment.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position or move about the greenhouse for the duration of a shift.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Adherence to safety protocols, including wearing appropriate footwear and securing loose hair/clothing around machinery.
