Job description

Job Summary

The Certified Flagger is responsible for safely directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic through active construction and utility work zones. This role plays a critical part in protecting workers, motorists, and the public by following approved traffic control procedures and maintaining a safe, well-organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct traffic using approved flagging techniques and equipment
  • Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices such as cones, signs, barricades, and paddles
  • Follow approved Traffic Control Plans (TCPs) and applicable MUTCD standards
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with motorists, pedestrians, and crew members
  • Monitor traffic flow and work zones for safety hazards
  • Adjust traffic control as needed based on site conditions
  • Assist with lane closures, road openings, and emergency traffic situations
  • Maintain constant situational awareness in active traffic environments
  • Comply with OSHA, DOT, MUTCD, and company safety policies
  • Complete required reports and documentation
