Overview

The Senior Manager, Lease Accounting & Fixed Asset Accounting is responsible for leading the global lease accounting and fixed asset accounting functions, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP/IFRS, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. This role oversees accounting operations related to leased assets, right-of-use (ROU) assets, lease liabilities, property, plant and equipment (PP&E), capital projects, depreciation, asset disposals, and related financial reporting. The Senior Manager partners closely with Finance, Real Estate, Procurement, Tax, Internal Audit, and business leaders to drive process excellence, strengthen internal controls, and support strategic initiatives.

This position reports to the Director of Global Assets, and is located in Providence, RI (Hybrid).

Responsibilities
  • Lead global lease accounting operations in compliance with ASC 842, IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and company policies, including lease classifications, modifications, complex transactions, and technical accounting assessments.
  • Oversee fixed asset and construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting, ensuring accurate capitalization, depreciation, amortization, impairment, disposals, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Manage period-end close and financial reporting activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, balance sheet reviews, SEC filings, statutory reporting, and financial statement disclosures.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and compliance frameworks, including SOX controls, audit support, remediation of control deficiencies, and monitoring of evolving accounting standards.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders such as Real Estate, Legal, Procurement, Finance, and senior leadership to evaluate contracts, capital projects, business transactions, and accounting implications.
  • Drive operational excellence through systems management, automation, standardization, and process improvements, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of lease and fixed asset portfolios while supporting ERP and transformation initiatives.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, establishing KPIs, mentoring staff, and supporting strategic initiatives including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, and major capital investments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 8-12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant lease accounting and fixed asset accounting experience.
  • 3-5+ years of people leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 842, IFRS 16 and fixed asset accounting principles.
  • Experience with large ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Workday, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Strong understanding of SOX controls and audit requirements.
  • Experience with lease accounting platforms such a, Lease Accelerator or Visual Lease.
  • Demonstrated experience researching and applying U.S. GAAP and IFRS to complex lease and fixed asset accounting matters.
  • Experience preparing technical accounting memoranda and presenting accounting conclusions to senior finance leadership and external auditors.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.

At Brightstar, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range is $90,746 - $200,000. The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.

Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program.ย  Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles are eligible for discretionary bonuses.ย  In addition, we offer employees a 401(k) Savings Plan with Company contributions, health, dental, and vision insurance, life, accident, and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, wellness programs, and identity theft insurance.
