Job description

Fixed Income/ Investment Project Manager

Job Location: Baltimore MD

Duration: 6 12 months

Rate: DOE

Not an IT manager, but some experience is ok since this resource would have oversight into some IT projects. This is a senior resource. They need to have experience working on high visibility projects and working with senior level executives and stakeholders.

Primary Purpose Of The Position

The senior project manager will be required to work closely with the sponsors within Investments, stakeholders and senior management from other business areas across Client, to ensure the goals and objectives of the project are met and deliver the desired business value. The senior project manager will be required to direct the daily activities, conduct working groups, provide regular updates and ensure delivery.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Direct a medium to large-scale, complex project with multiple internal stakeholders.
  • Develop the project charter, integrated project plan, resource plan, contingency plan, and related project management artifacts.
  • Evaluate trade-offs between project size and complexity, cost, urgency, risk, and stakeholder value.
  • Validate financial forecasts and provide on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures.
  • Partner with business sponsors to define success metrics and criteria.
  • Facilitate all operational checkpoint activities throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Assess and resolve all high priority project risks as they are encountered.
  • Manage project according to established methodology and standards.
  • Continually update relevant business stakeholders of project status and periodically publish project status reports.
  • Represent the project in various project governance and inter-department forums.
  • Define and track project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall and integrated delivery plan.
  • Ensure the project meets success parameters and business objectives stated in the project charter.
Experience Required:
  • College degree and 4 years of related work experience, or Associate degree and 6 years related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and 8 years related work experience
  • 8+ years Asset Management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and being able to work with people across multiple locations.
  • Experience of facilitating meetings with stakeholders to review and solve key issues.
  • Well organized and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work well with people with varying technical, business, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience working with senior management in formal presentations, escalations and issue resolutions.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Sharepoint
  • Ability to translate and simplify complex business and technical concepts.
Ideal Experience:
  • 10+ years of Project Management experience
  • 2+ years Fixed Income project experience
  • Experience managing senior sponsors 4 year minimum
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Sharepoint
  • Technical skills Microsoft office including Visio, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent presentation skills particularly to senior management.
  • Preparing and running steering committees.
  • Soft skills to motivate people and navigate a complex global working environment.
  • Project management certification (PMP, Prince II etc)
