As a fiduciary, the firm is committed to portfolio oversight, regulatory compliance, and disciplined investment implementation aligned with client's objectives.

Position Summary

The Fixed Income Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing the firmโ€™s fixed income investment processโ€”from research and security selection to portfolio execution and advisor communication. This individual will work closely with the CIO and Co-CIO, serving as a key contributor to SISโ€™s investment strategy and as a trusted partner to our advisors and their clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth research, analysis, and valuation of fixed income securities, including corporate bonds, preferred stocks, and BDCs.
  • Implement fixed income investment strategies aligned with the firmโ€™s income-focused philosophy.
  • Analyze corporate fixed income securities to identify investment opportunities and manage risk across client portfolios.
  • Develop and maintain credit models, yield analysis, and market forecasts to support portfolio decisions.
  • Execute bond trades and coordinate with the internal trading desk to ensure timely and accurate execution.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, rebalance holdings, and provide insight into market movements and risk exposure.
  • Prepare investment commentary, internal research reports, and performance summaries for advisors and clients.
  • Participate in advisor calls, client meetings, and conference calls as a subject matter expert on fixed income markets.
  • Collaborate with leadership on the construction and communication of the firmโ€™s investment roadmap.
  • Support the CIO and investment team with model portfolio oversight and income strategy optimization.
  • Maintain ongoing compliance awareness and documentation aligned with RIA standards and regulatory guidelines.
Must-Have Qualifications

Required Background and Education:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in fixed income research, trading, or portfolio management.
  • Proven ability to research and analyze corporate fixed income securities.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate bonds, preferreds, and other income-generating securities.
  • Experience using Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct, and other credit rating services or market analytics tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Schwab and Fidelity platforms a plus.
  • Proven ability to clearly articulate investment strategy and performance to advisors and clients.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience within boutique investment advisory firms or brokerโ€‘dealer environments, particularly RIA or bond desk settings.
  • Comfort speaking at conferences, webinars, or client events.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.
  • An advanced degree, an MBA, a CFA, or progress toward CFA certification is a nice-to-have.
