Job description

Description:Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day execution of core accounting operations, including general accounting, accounts receivable and payable support, month-end and year-end close, financial and operational reporting, and payroll-related journal entries. This role serves as the primary owner of most recurring general ledger activity and month-end close tasks, while acting as backup for select financial reporting, budgeting, tax, insurance, human resources, and payroll administration functions. The Senior Accountant works closely with the Manager of Accounting and FP&A and cross-functional partners to ensure accurate, timely, and well-documented financial records and reporting.


Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Accounting & Month-End Close (Primary Owner)

? Reconcile bank accounts (four accounts) monthly.

? Perform month-end closing tasks for inventory, including resin inventory adjustments.

? Prepare recurring journal entries, including accrued expenses, labor accrual, payroll accrual, commission and property tax accruals, sales tax calculation, and business income tax entries.

? Allocate prepaid insurance, group health insurance, HRA expenses, and credit card processing fees to departments.

? Prepare American Express (Amex) reconciliation, coding, journal entry, and upload; process Amex-related expense reimbursements.

? Reconcile intercompany transactions weekly and accrue intercompany credit card transactions monthly.

? Prepare and post payroll journal entries, upload and post payroll to the accounting system, and reconcile payroll liability accounts.

? Prepare indirect labor allocation journal entries and interdepartmental labor sharing entries.

? Calculate and track weekly EOS metrics.

? Prepare annual 1099 reporting.

General Accounting (Backup Support)

? Reconcile balance sheet accounts and shareholder loan/interest journal entries.

? Support fixed asset and depreciation analysis, lease schedule updates, and bank loan payment entries and reconciliations.

? Assist with annual tax return and R&D tax credit audit requests, and respond to state tax notices in coordination with external tax accountants.

? Support annual close of the prior fiscal period and preparation of 13-period reports, comments, and research.

? Assist with quarterly government surveys, borrowing base certificate (BBC) calculations, and quarterly low-value asset entries.

? Support annual insurance renewal coordination and year-end general liability and workers' compensation insurance audits.

? Maintain the chart of accounts and reporting structure across accounting and CRM systems.

? Assist with bank loan coordination as needed.

Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable

? Serve as backup for processing customer payments.

? Serve as backup for customer deposit account reconciliation.

Financial Reporting

? Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly Indirect Labor reports and metrics (primary).

? Serve as backup for monthly Sales & Margin and Working Capital reports.

? Serve as backup for consolidated financial statements, income statement, profit contribution report, WIP reports, and the quarterly Townhall presentation.

? Serve as backup for MTD/EOM billing reviews.

Operations, Sales & Quarterly Reporting (Primary Owner)

? Prepare monthly high-margin and low-margin jobs and parts reports, related aggregate/job-count charts, and the Company Newsletter Top Performers report.

? Prepare weekly Job Status Reports and weekly/monthly RFQs & Leads reports.

? Prepare quarterly Low Margin Jobs Comparison and Quarterly Master Sales Activity reports.

Payroll & Human Resources (Backup Support)

? Serve as backup for biweekly payroll processing and Paylocity system maintenance.

? Serve as backup for monthly incentive calculations and daily timesheet entry.

? Serve as backup for core HR functions, including onboarding/offboarding, employee record maintenance, performance review administration, training record management, workers' compensation claim management, and man-hour and safety-award reporting.

Requirements:

? Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

? 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

? Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, GAAP, accruals, and account reconciliation.

? Experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

? High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple recurring deadlines.

? Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with operations, sales, and HR/payroll teams.
