Investment Banking Analyst - Power, Utilities & Infrastructure
As an Investment Banking Analyst on the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure Investment Banking team at National Bank of Canada Capital markets, you play a lead role in supporting the teamโ€™s deal execution and pitch activity. You will participate in a wide variety of transactions led by senior members of the team and deepen your knowledge of the investment banking industry.
This role provides ample opportunity for career growth, as well as opportunities to collaborate with National Bankโ€™s other Capital Markets business lines to help deepen your capital markets knowledge, including Equity Capital Markets, Credit Capital Markets, and Fixed Income.
Your Job
  • Evaluating and analyzing the financial needs of corporate clients, including building complex financial models and performing valuation analysis
  • Supporting deal teams with transaction structuring in addition to executing advisory and financing mandates with increasing levels of responsibility and accountability over time
  • Preparing presentation materials to support our clientsโ€™ capital decision making
  • Drafting marketing materials for transactions, including deal-related investor presentations, prospectuses, and related documentation
  • Conducting company and industry research and analysis
  • Performing various tasks supporting senior team members in their deal execution and client coverage efforts

As an established player in the North American markets, Capital Markets is committed to adding high calibre resources to its Investment Banking group. This group currently consists of over 170 professionals located in offices in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, and New York. The Investment Banking Group has demonstrated considerable momentum over the last few years, experiencing strong growth in deal flow.
Capital Markets - Power, Utilities & Infrastructure Investment Banking team is looking to hire an experienced analyst to work out of its Toronto office.
Although the emphasis is placed on analysis, financial modelling and written presentations, candidates must also demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and other advisors.
Basic Requirements
  • At least 1 year of experience in investment banking, transactions advisory, equity research, or capital markets
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, accounting, economics or engineering is preferred, with a track record of strong academic performance
  • Strong knowledge of financial theory, accounting, and capital markets
  • Experience in, or knowledge of, the power, utilities, and infrastructure sectors would be valued
  • Demonstrated financial modelling skillset, with experience developing complex, dynamic financial models; experience in project finance modelling is preferred
  • Exceptional proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Word
  • Experience with Bloomberg and Capital IQ would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated problem-solving mindset, collaborative approach and great team spirit
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
