Job description

Responsible for tracking, supporting, analyzing and accounting of the companyโ€™s capital expenditures.ย  Support in creating and analyzing optimal profit model for capital expenditures.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review fixed asset purchase requests and invoices
  • Interact with cross functional business partners on Capex accounting
  • Keeps track of invoices to date by Capex project
  • Prepares billing to Cruise lines/Vendors for Capex
  • Perform reconciliations of multiple balance sheet accounts related to Capex
  • Prepare journal entries related to Capex projects
  • Support the creation and analysis of profit models related to Capex projects
  • Support postinvestment analysis of Capex projects to evaluate projected versus actual payback
  • Develop, forecast and provide reporting on the company's capital budget
  • Update the forecast on a weekly or monthly basis
  • Meet with all functional areas to discuss project status (spend, timing, accruals etc.)
  • Determine capital vs. operating expense
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process (CAPEX, Depreciation and Cash)
  • Perform variance analysis related to CAPEX spend, forecasts, and budgets
  • Prepare and provide CAPEX-related updates to leadership, including project status, spend, and timing
  • Perform other Ad hoc financial analysis (on request)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance/Accounting
  • One-two years of experience performing Journal Entries, financial planning, budgeting, modeling and analysis
  • One-two years of experience in cruise line industry and/or retail organization (preferred; not required)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of MS Excel is essential and a principal requirement; Proficiency of other MS applications such as Power BI, & PowerPoint preferred
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data and make sound conclusions or business recommendations
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Professionalism and ability to adapt to diversity
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Understanding of CAPEX accounting principles and the full capital project lifecycle
  • Curious mindset that is constantly identifying ways to improve and streamline existing processes.
  • Ability to work within a diverse work environment including facing non-Finance budget stakeholders
  • Ability to clearly articulate financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Some flexibility in hours is permitted, employee must be available during the โ€œcoreโ€ work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday โ€“ Friday and must work 30 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Physical Demands:
Office environment with frequent sitting, walking and standing, occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling use of office machinery. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Oral and auditory enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication automated devise such as the telephone.
