Job description

Natwest Markets Us Middle Office Role

The Natwest Markets US Middle Office supports the US Trading, Sales, and Capital Markets business areas. The team performs activities across transaction control, managing client and sales queries, broker and trading queries, US Treasury auctions, regulatory reporting support and reconciliation controls. The primary functions of the role are to execute key operational controls, oversee offshore support functions, and provide daily trade support to the regional Fixed Income trading desks across a broad range of products.

What You'll Do
  • Collaborate closely with traders, salespeople, and operations teams to provide the highest level of Fixed Income operational support for our customers, both regionally and globally.
  • Utilize your subject matter expertise in investment banking operations to train and support local and global teams to meet service levels and stakeholder expectations.
  • Provide daily oversight of offshore operational activities, ensuring adherence to established service levels, control procedures, regulatory requirements, and business expectations.
  • Effectively manage key relationships and work closely with regional and global teams across the organization including front office, operations, compliance, finance, and technology.
  • Own and enhance key operational controls supporting Fixed Income products, ensuring risks are identified, monitored, and mitigated through effective governance and escalation.
  • Maintain and update comprehensive documentation of all procedures, processes and key controls to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Ensure accurate regulatory reporting (FINRA TRACE, CFTC, CME and other reporting requirements) to ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Design and analyze metrics for Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive improvements in operational performance for both onshore and offshore teams.
  • Develop operational and product skills and build personal knowledge through training and coaching.
  • Identify control gaps and process inefficiencies to develop new ways of working, strengthen controls, and deliver sustainable operational improvements and cost-efficient solutions.
  • Investigate operational issues and trade breaks, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Contribute to strategic projects and change initiatives in partnership with regional and global stakeholders to support the bank's objectives and operational strategy.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Middle Office or related investment banking operations roles.
  • Understanding of FINRA TRACE, CFTC or CME reporting requirements and experience supporting related regulatory reporting and compliance obligations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines in a highly controlled environment.
  • Strong technical skills, including a working knowledge of Fixed Income products and concepts and bond math fundamentals.
  • Strong understanding of Fixed Income trade lifecycle management and front-to-back operational processes, including trade capture, confirmations, allocations, reconciliations, settlements, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience supporting audit reviews, regulatory examinations, or control assessments.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising operational activities, including oversight of offshore teams and/or third-party service providers.
  • Adaptability to learn new tasks and demonstrate a willingness to understand the details of a process.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, reconciliation management, reporting, and operational oversight.
  • Experience utilizing Bloomberg, FINRA TRAQS, and other industry-standard trading and operations platforms.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence tools and emerging technologies, including the use of generative AI solutions to support data analysis, process documentation, workflow optimization, reporting, and operational efficiency initiatives. Demonstrated interest in leveraging technology and automation to enhance controls, improve productivity, and drive continuous process improvement is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team and collaborate across business areas.

The expected base annual salary range for this position is $100,000 - $135,000 at the start of employment. This is not a guarantee of compensation. The exact compensation is determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on skills, experience, training licensure, certifications and location.
