Position:  Director of Spa & Wellness                                                                                                     

Job Summary:                                                                     

The director is responsible for the day-to-day operations, including the physical structure, tranquility, and aesthetic beauty of the facility promote a relaxing and appealing environment. Uses the ability to lead and motivate staff to achieve goals and exceed member expectations. The overall quality and satisfaction of all the programs and services for members and guests depend on the Director of Spa & Wellness. The Director is a representative of a fit and healthy lifestyle, enjoys interpersonal contact with members and guests, and enjoys the motivation that accompanies the role.
 


Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Displays leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifies excellent customer service, and creates a positive atmosphere for others.
  • Ensures compliance with all Club policies, standards, and procedures by training, supervising, 
  • and hands-on management
  • Maintain a comprehensive standard facility operation manual, including written policies and procedures for all facility services, administration, and maintenance.
  • Maintain a daily management report outlining key facility statistics and a summary of daily operations. 
  • Develops and maintains accurate facility maintenance procedures and checklists through routine preventative maintenance and repair.
  • Maintains a monthly inventory of supplies, equipment, and products.
  • Creates a team of service providers to meet all aspects of professionalism and service standards.
  • Maintains a fully staffed facility by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training all staff.
  • Ensures the staff is fully knowledgeable on the use and benefits of services, products, programs, and activities by conducting regularly scheduled staff meetings and training workshops.
  • Ensures appropriate facility supervisory coverage through use of a Manager on Duty (MOD) system.
  • Assesses all employees’ progress continually, trains employees, coaches employees with positive reinforcement, disciplines fairly and consistently, and completes annual performance evaluations.
  • Provides excellent customer service and monitors guest feedback and other customer care techniques. Consistently follows up on guest requests and comments.
  • Ensures the successful integration of the spa and the fitness facility into the overall operations of the Club.
  • Ensures that the spa is successfully positioned within the respective marketplace by completing a competitive analysis and determining strengths and weaknesses of all significant competitors.
  • Selects vendors for spa retail operations and manages contract agreements.
  • Oversees retail product research, product selection, and purchasing, and product display.
  • Manages supply inventories and purchasing control, including uniforms.
  • Monitors the spa's actual and projected sales to ensure revenue goals are met or exceeded.
  • Ensures that financial goals are attained by developing and implementing a retail sales plan.
  • Establishes service and retail goals for staff and guides how to achieve them.
  • Develops a schedule of seasonal utilization patterns to be used in the budgeting process and effective payroll management.
  • Specifies and controls efficient usage of professional products for all services by completing a service cost analysis and implementing an inventory control system.
  • Provides necessary financial information to the accounting department for accurate reporting of daily sales and financial performance.
  • Ensures an effective inventory system with the par stock levels implemented for spa equipment and supplies.
  • Ensures compliance with all state licensing and health requirements.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and updated records of staff, independent contractors, vendors, etc., including licenses, contracts, certificates of insurance, business licenses, etc.
  • Provides reservation procedures using spa software or a manual reservation system.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the completion of job duties related to matters of significance.
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned to ensure operational excellence.

    Minimum Qualifications:
  • A college degree in hospitality, spa management, wellness, or a related field, with five years
  • Experience in management of a luxury resort property, five years of experience in the hospitality industry of a similar luxury resort, and a minimum of one approved industry certification.
  • Proven business management skills and a minimum of 5-10-year experience in Spa operations at a 4-5 Diamond/Star executive level
  • Ability to maintain calm and professional leadership in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with luxury brand products to include skin care, haircare and nail care,
  • Experience working in Forbes or luxury hotel/Club environments, understanding luxury standards of service.
