Schedule: 3rd Shift: Monday-Friday, 10:30 PM-7:00 AM
Training Schedule: Candidates must be available to complete training on 1st and/or 2nd shift prior to transitioning to 3rd shift.
Overview:
Our client, a leading aerospace manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Plasma Sprayer to support the repair and coating of critical aerospace engine components. This position plays an important role in restoring high-value aircraft parts by applying precision thermal spray coatings while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience in plasma spray, thermal spray, HVOF, industrial coatings, or robotic spray systems within an aerospace or advanced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, program, and operate plasma spray equipment to apply coatings on aerospace components.
- Prepare parts for coating by masking, grit blasting, cleaning, and inspecting surfaces.
- Determine proper spray parameters including flow rates, spray speed, coating thickness, and application techniques to meet engineering specifications.
- Read and interpret work orders, engineering drawings, technical manuals, and blueprints.
- Program and operate robotic plasma spray equipment (ABB robotic systems and Sulzer Metco MultiCoat systems preferred).
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to develop new spray programs, tooling concepts, and process improvements.
- Perform in-process inspections to ensure coating quality, thickness, adhesion, and compliance with customer specifications.
- Maintain inventory of coating materials, tooling, fixtures, and consumables required for production.
- Complete production documentation accurately and maintain detailed process records.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
- Follow all quality procedures, environmental requirements, and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) years of plasma spray or thermal spray experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred:
- Aerospace manufacturing experience (highly preferred)
- Experience operating or programming robotic plasma spray systems.
- Experience with Sulzer Metco Multi Coat Spray Systems.
- Experience with ABB 2400 Series Robots.
- Experience with HVOF, thermal spray, ceramic coatings, or other advanced coating processes.
- Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working around industrial equipment and elevated temperatures.
- Ability to wear required PPE including respirators, face shields, gloves, hearing protection, and protective clothing.
