First Robotics Intern information

What are First Robotics Interns?

First Robotics Interns are students or recent graduates who assist in the planning, building, and programming of robots for FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) competitions. They work closely with mentors and teams to learn engineering, coding, and project management skills while contributing to the team's success. This internship provides hands-on experience in STEM fields, fosters teamwork, and encourages creative problem-solving. Interns may also help organize events or outreach programs to promote STEM education within their communities.

What types of projects and responsibilities can a First Robotics Intern expect to be involved with during their internship?

As a First Robotics Intern, you can expect to work on hands-on projects that may include designing, building, and testing robot components, programming control systems, and assisting with troubleshooting during competitions or demonstrations. Interns often collaborate closely with mentors, students, and engineering professionals to brainstorm solutions and contribute to team strategy. The environment is highly team-oriented and fast-paced, providing opportunities to develop both technical and soft skills. Interns may also help organize outreach activities or workshops, gaining experience in communication and project management while supporting the mission of inspiring interest in STEM fields.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a First Robotics Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a First Robotics Intern, you need a solid understanding of STEM fundamentals, especially in engineering, programming, and robotics, often supported by coursework or hands-on experience in related fields. Familiarity with tools like CAD software, programming languages (such as Java or Python), and robotics kits (e.g., FIRST Robotics Competition control systems) is typically required. Strong teamwork, problem-solving skills, and effective communication help you collaborate and innovate within diverse teams. These skills and qualities are essential for successfully designing, building, and programming robots while contributing positively to team projects and competitions.

Job description

About Rendezvous Robotics
Today, space is designed to fit within the limits of the rocket fairing. Rendezvous Robotics is changing that. We are building electromagnetic self-assembling tiles that enable spacecraft and structures to dock, reconfigure, and grow in orbit-creating infrastructure that can scale far beyond what any single rocket can carry.

About the Role
Rendezvous Robotics is looking for a Marketing Intern to support social media, content creation, storytelling, and events. For someone looking to break into space marketing, this is a chance to work closely with CMO Kim Jennett and gain hands-on experience inside a company operating at the frontier of space, robotics, and AI.

We are looking for someone with strong creative instincts and good taste. The kind of person everyone asks to take the photo. The one who can pull together an Instagram story on the fly, spot the moment worth capturing, and turn it into something people actually want to watch. You are curious about technology, excited to experiment with tools like Canva and CapCut, and energized by the challenge of helping a highly technical company show up in a clear, smart, and interesting way.

You should be quick on your feet, comfortable moving fast, and able to carry an idea from first spark to finished post. A sense of humor matters. So does follow-through. We are looking for someone who is creative, resourceful, and excited to learn.

What You'll Do

  • Support social media strategy and execution across company and executive channels
  • Draft and develop content for LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and other relevant platforms
  • Capture content in real time and help create short-form social assets on the fly
  • Help create short-form copy, visual concepts, captions, content calendars, and campaign ideas
  • Monitor trends, cultural moments, and relevant conversations across space, robotics, AI, defense, technology, and media
  • Assist with company storytelling, thought leadership, announcements, and editorial planning
  • Help turn technical information into clear, engaging marketing content
  • Support the development of presentations, one-pagers, website content, and other marketing materials
  • Support planning and execution for conferences, industry events, and company activations
  • Track social performance and surface insights on what is resonating
  • Work closely with our CMO on special projects related to marketing, communications, and creative strategy

What We're Looking For

  • Strong writing skills and a good instinct for tone, voice, and storytelling
  • Familiarity with social media marketing and content creation
  • Comfortable creating content quickly and capturing moments as they happen
  • Interest in space, robotics, AI, and deep technology
  • A creative eye and strong visual instincts
  • Experience with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or similar tools
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable moving between creative ideas and execution
  • Able to think on your feet, adapt quickly, and follow through
  • A sense of humor, curiosity, and willingness to learn
  • Experience editing short-form video or creating social assets is a plus

To Apply
Please send your resume, a short note on why this role interests you, and 2-3 examples of social content, writing, video, or creative work that show your instincts and style.
