Position Overview

As the Land and Commercial Manager of the TotalEnergies E&P USA, Inc.โ€™s land group reporting to Vice President โ€“ Business Development & Strategy, the Land and Commercial Manager position works and interacts with the following internal stakeholders: Exploration, Assets, Subsurface, Drilling, Finance, HSE and Legal mรฉtiers. The position further serves as one of the primary liaisions with the following external stakeholders: business and JV partners (managing relations and associated contractual options/obligations on projects in excess of 500 M$ per year), critical vendors, Representatives and land and royalty owners, as well as governmental entities (U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, Office of Natural Resources Revenue, Texas General Land Office, etc.).

  • Lead company interactions involving business and JV partners, crucial vendors, Representatives and land and royalty owners
  • Lead interface with government entities (such as U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, Office of Natural Resources Revenue, Texas General Land Office, etc.) to advance TotalEnergiesโ€™ objectives with considerations given to regulatory and contractual frameworks
  • Work closely with Vice President โ€“ Business Development & Strategy in the review of opportunities by negotiating Confidentiality Agreements, coordinating data room visits, analyzing opportunities, performing due diligence, and integrating assets
  • Negotiate a wide range of lease and land contracts such as lease exchanges/operating agreements/JV agreements/farmouts for onshore and offshore assets
  • Lead land portions of lease sale process in close connection with Exploration; duties include: competitor analysis, bid preparation, compliance, identification of potential joint bidding partners
  • Direct & provide oversight of teamโ€™s work โ€“ manage workload, provide regular feedback, conduct performance reviews, recognize wins, make recommendations for training, improvement, and development
  • Provide general commercial oversight of assets including agreement management, drilling and division order title opinions, and other land related documents for creation of proper partner joint interest billing and revenue disbursements to owners
  • Provide contract analysis and appropriate external notices and negotiate positions with JV partners and other companies by maintaining TotalEnergiesโ€™ position via the contracts and leases
  • Ensure proper lease maintenance through timely payments made by Finance
  • Act as a liaison by collaborating with a multitude of internal stakeholders: Exploration, Assets, Subsurface, Drilling, Finance, HSE and Legal.
Education & Experience
  • 10+ years of oil and gas land/commercial experience
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business or other related field; preference given to Juris Doctorate
Skills
  • Operational inโ€‘house experience in the offshore Gulf of Mexico and onshore preferred
  • In depth knowledge of GOM regulations, Operating Agreements and commercial negotiations.
  • Ability to make verbal and visual presentations to management detailing land aspects involved in operational issues
  • Proven experience working onshore US building a network of oil and gas professionals which help drive organizational opportunities
  • Experience with land and accounting software products
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal direction
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills
