Position Overview

The Host/Hostess manages reservations, coordinates seating, and supports communication between the front-of-house team, kitchen staff, and other hotel departments. By anticipating guest needs and maintaining an organized dining flow, you play an essential role in delivering the elevated hospitality experience that defines MacArthur Place.


Summary of Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests warmly and professionally, creating a memorable first impression and escorting them to their tables.
  • Manage reservations, waitlists, and table assignments to maintain a smooth and efficient dining room flow.
  • Answer guest inquiries and provide menus, specials, and information about restaurant offerings and hotel amenities.
  • Communicate guest preferences, celebrations, VIP arrivals, and dietary needs to service and culinary teams.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction throughout service, promptly addressing minor concerns and elevating guest service issues to management when necessary.
  • Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to support timely seating, service, and table turnover.
  • Maintain accurate reservation records, seating charts, and floor plans.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming host stand, entrance, and waiting area; ensure menus and materials are presentable and restocked throughout service.
  • Assist with organizing large parties or special events and support servers during busy service periods.
  • Participate in pre-service briefings and collaborate with the Food & Beverage team to maintain consistent service standards.
  • Demonstrate professionalism at all times and comply with company policies, procedures, and service standards, including safety protocols, time and attendance, meal and rest breaks, uniform and grooming guidelines, sanitation practices, and code of conduct requirements.
  • Adaptability, collaboration, and attention to detail are essential in this high-volume, guest-focused environment.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and other duties as assigned to support overall hotel and restaurant operations.

Qualifications

  • Previous hospitality, restaurant, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to remain composed and guest-focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with reservation or POS systems is a plus.
  • Food Handler's and Alcohol Service certifications required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a hotel restaurant and lounge environment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout shifts.
