Job description

Organizational Overview  

Families First's mission is to partner with parents to amplify the power of parents so they can positively impact the lives of children and communities through our groundbreaking programs. Our model includes parenting education and support, family engagement, and alumni opportunities.  

For more than 38 years, Families First has been a leader in providing parenting education across the Greater Boston area. The organization was founded in 1988 with the goal of helping parents navigate the diverse challenges of raising children by providing research-based parenting education services. Today, Families First provides a comprehensive model for early childhood parenting education, family engagement, and parent leadership through the Power of Parenting program and the Ripple Program. 

Position Overview 

As part of Families First's Program Department, the Program Coordinator will coordinate and support the implementation of 12-15programs, specifically thePower of Parentingand the Rippleprograms,peryear within the Greater Bostonregion. This includes coordinating recruitment, registration, and programlogisticsto ensure the successful delivery of programs inEnglish,Spanish, Portuguese, and additional languages as we expand our language delivery. 

Essential Job Functions 

  • With guidance from theProgram Manager, develop recruitment plans with partners andmonitoreach plan's implementation, with the goal of registering at least 20-25 participants per program 
  • In collaboration with the Program Manager,maintainpartnerships through regular communication and check-in meetings 
  • Ensure alllogisticsand technologyare prepared for the programs, such as updating program calendarsand coordinating with Program Facilitators 
  • Facilitateprogram information sessions and attendselectprogram sessionssuch as graduationtomonitor/support registration and retention 
  • Interview, select, and provide trainingandsupportforparent leaders 
  • Connect with parents to ensure completion of registration forms and surveys 
  • Develop andmaintainstrongrelationships with parentsto ensure they are supported with program needs during and after the program 
  • Attend events, make phone calls, and connect with partnersand parentstorecruitforthe program 
  • Monitorregistration process, maintain tracking sheet, and communicate updates/needs with partner 
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor to support programming 

Ideal Qualifications

  • At least oneyear of experience successfully coordinating or managing programs/projects, outreach, and/or community organizing 
  • Former participant in Families First programming is preferred 
  • People-oriented withstrong communicationskills 
  • Organizational skills and high attention to detail 
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in a collaborative team environment 
  • Problem solver, flexible, and the ability to learn quickly 
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) 
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is a plus

Requirements 

  • Language: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English and at least one additional language is required. To support Families First's commitment to serving multilingual families and to expand our capacity to meet community needs, candidates who can communicate in Portuguese or Haitian Creole are strongly preferred. Ability to communicate in Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, or other languages spoken by the families we work with is also highly valued. 
  • Able to climb/descend stairs, bend, and occasionally lift items up to 30 pounds, such as supplies/equipment. 
  • Must be able to travel to sites within Greater Bostonand occasionally to Western MA for team meetings/events 
  • Candidate needs to be available to work evenings approximately two times/week 

Compensation & Benefits 

This position is for 40 hours/week and is a nonexempt position. The starting compensation range is $55,000 - $60,000 annually (equivalent to $26.44-$28.85/hour), with the opportunity for growth over time.
