Job description

This is a high-stakes leadership mandate for a seasoned P&L owner to command a premier, high-margin commercial arbor and tree care operation. The organization is a dominant force in the regional market, specializing in complex, high-risk vegetation management for enterprise-level commercial accounts, municipal contracts, and utility partners.

The incoming General Manager will inherit a sophisticated platform and is tasked with driving operational excellence across a high-utilization fleet and a specialized technical workforce. The mandate is to balance aggressive revenue growth with uncompromising safety rigor, ensuring the organization remains the "first-call" provider for both recurring maintenance and emergency storm response. This is a role for a resilient leader who can navigate the logistical complexities of a high-hazard industry while maintaining a focus on bottom-line performance.

KEY LEADERSHIP MANDATES

  • Full P&L Command: Own the complete operation's P&L, with direct accountability for EBITDA, revenue growth, and bottom-line performance.
  • Safety & Compliance Culture: Champion an uncompromising safety program and ISA/ANSI compliance standard across all crews in a high-hazard environment.
  • Fleet & Asset Optimization: Command capital planning and maintenance economics for a high-utilization fleet of specialized equipment.
  • Crew Productivity & Utilization: Drive billable utilization, crew efficiency, and job-costing discipline across commercial and municipal service lines.
  • Commercial & Municipal Bidding: Lead estimating and bid strategy to win enterprise accounts, municipal contracts, and utility line-clearance work.
  • Storm & Emergency Readiness: Maintain rapid-mobilization capability to capture high-margin emergency and storm-response revenue.
  • Workforce Development: Recruit, certify, and retain skilled climbers, crew leaders, and arborists in a constrained labor market.
  • Operational Scalability: Install KPI reporting and process discipline to position the operation for geographic and service-line expansion.

IDEAL EXECUTIVE PROFILE

The successful candidate is an operations or general management leader with a background in arbor, tree care, utility vegetation management, or comparable equipment- and labor-intensive field services. You possess a verifiable record of full P&L ownership, measurable productivity and margin gains, and fluency in field-safety and risk management. You are a hands-on leader who understands that in arbor, safety discipline and profitability are the same conversation.

WHAT MAKES THIS OPPORTUNITY DISTINCT

This role offers full command of a market-leading arbor platform with a strong commercial and municipal book and significant room to grow. You will have the autonomy to drive both revenue and safety performance, backed by a capable workforce and an established regional reputation. It is a high-accountability seat with a clear path to broader operational leadership as the platform expands.
