ASRC Federal Facilities Logistics, LLC, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is seeking a MD First Class Engineer to support our Prime NASA program at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.ย 

This position shift will be from 7am - 3pm, M-F.ย 

ย Summary/General Description of Job:

Safely operates, maintains and repairs one or more boilers to produce steam or high-temperature water for use in an establishment.

ย Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Fully capable of firing off high pressure steam boilers on natural gas or fuel oil.
  • Ability to stop and start high pressure boilers
  • Observes and interprets readings on gauges, meters, and charts which register various aspects of boiler operation.
  • Adjusts controls to insure safe and efficient boiler operation and to meet demands for steam or high temperature water, in accordance with AFI and PWS.
  • Maintains boiler operation log; clean, oil, make minor repairs to boiler room equipment; and following prescribed methods, treat boiler water with chemicals and analyze boiler water for such things as acidity, causticity, and alkalinity.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret technical manuals, shop directives, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, specifications, verbal and written instructions
  • Responsible for completing daily work order log documenting inspections, maintenance and repair information, to include work performed, materials used and hours worked on each assigned work order.
  • Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policies.
  • Complies with applicable federal, state, NASA, GSFC, and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) environmental laws and regulations.ย 
  • Follows ASRC furnished information directives; Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Policies and Procedures, and contract requirements.
  • Complies with health and safety rules and procedures; performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
  • Incumbent will at all times wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined by position and duties.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Knowledge and understanding of blueprints/floor plans
  • Ability to operate METASYS Energy Management Systems and PCS Operation System
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):Mandatory
  • Must be MD State Certified for the location where the work is being performed.
  • Minimum 3 yearsโ€™ experience performing the following:
    • Tending to one or more boilers to produce steam or high-temperature water for Center use
    • Firing boiler for start-up
    • Observing and interpreting readings on gauges, meters, and charts
    • Adjusting controls to insure safe and efficient boiler operation and toย  meet demands for steam or high temperature water
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Successfully completed Power Plant Boiler Maintenance and Operations Certification training.
  • Valid state driverโ€™s license with an acceptable driving Record.
  • Ability to use: technical manuals, technical bulletins or manufacturerโ€™s specifications.
  • The ability to accurately read: measuring devices, testing equipment and or instruments.
  • Must be available to work other shifts as directed, to include week-ends and holidays.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses/IDs/certifications.
  • Ability to solve problems and work independently or with minimal supervision in a team oriented atmosphere.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in technology and applicable facility/infrastructure codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.
