The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the 3rd Class Operating Engineer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the boiler plant and associated utility systems. This role supports manufacturing operations by monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-pressure boilers, fuel handling systems, compressors, heating systems, and related equipment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, workplace safety, and continuous plant performance while contributing to a collaborative and safety-focused environment.

What You'll Do
ย 
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain high-pressure water tube boilers, fluidized bed boilers, compressors, and associated utility equipment.
  • Perform boiler water testing and ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor and support building fire alarm, steam heating, and glycol heating systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance to maximize reliability and uptime.
  • Follow all health, safety, environmental, and operating procedures, including the use of required PPE.
  • Support plant operations by performing additional duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Valid Ontario 3rd Class Operating Engineer's Certificate of Qualification.
  • Previous experience maintaining and operating high-pressure water tube boilers.
  • Experience with solid fuel handling, combustion systems, and boiler auxiliaries.
  • Hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Willingness to wear required PPE, including respirators, Tyvek suits, safety glasses, gloves, and safety footwear.
