Job Summary:

The Unarmed Security Officer is tasked with securing the premises and personnel by staying on patrol, monitoring surveillance equipment, performing building inspections, guarding entry points, and verifying visitors. This position requires vigilance, discipline, and professionalism to maintain the safety of the facility and employees.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Secure the designated station with attention, discipline, and professionalism.
  • Check in facility visitors, guests, and employees.
  • Ensure security SOPs are followed with strict adherence.
  • Complete routine patrols of the facility interior and perimeter to ensure security checkpoints are secure on multiple levels.
  • React to and report on-site security-related issues swiftly and without hesitation.
  • Monitor facility security cameras to ensure the safety and security of employees and company property.
  • Ensure that security room, gates, doors, locks, and camera systems are in working order during designated shifts.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be at least 21 years old, as required by state law.
  • Valid state ID or Driver's License.
  • Strong experience in de-escalation training, conflict resolution, self-defense, and crowd control.
  • Ability to walk the facility and climb stairs for most of the shift.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience as a security officer, law enforcement, or military.
  • 2+ years of experience in customer service.

Certifications (Required):

  • Valid Guard Card / Unarmed Security Guard License in Arizona.
  • Valid taser and baton certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is strongly preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including interior and exterior patrols and regular use of stairs.
  • Ability to respond quickly to incidents, including moving at a brisk pace or short jogs, and to safely escort or physically support individuals when trained and required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds, such as doors, gates, and security equipment.
  • Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to noise, changing temperatures, weather, and other facility conditions.
  • Ability to remain alert and attentive while sitting, standing, or monitoring security systems for long periods or entire shifts.
  • Sufficient vision and hearing, with or without corrective devices, to observe surroundings and respond to alarms, radios, and access control systems.

Work Schedule (Non-Exempt):

This position is scheduled on a full-time basis. Specific shift times and workdays are determined by the operation and may vary by location. Business needs may require work on evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as occasional overtime. Scheduled start and end times, assigned shifts, and workdays are subject to change based on staffing and operational requirements. Whenever feasible, advance notice of schedule changes will be provided.
