Job description

Position Overview
Essential Job Functions: Assembly Group Lead
To lead a manufacturing department in achieving daily operational targets and associated safety, quality, productivity/cost KPI’s. Develops an environment of trust; founded in respect for others, communication, training and general team member support. Responsible for all personnel and planning for your department
Personal/Technical Skills:
  • Self-motivated and self-directed leader
  • Solid communication skills; can communicate with all levels of management. Comfortable in customer or interview environments.
  • Has willingness and the ability to hold team members accountable to standards, expectations, policies, etc.
  • Has ability to carry out instruction and direction from leadership. This includes HR changes and updates, up to and including production schedules and other manufacturing items.
  • Must have basic computer skills including Word, Excel (simple charts, graphs), e-mail, browser.
  • Ability to attend and/or lead training as assigned
Tasks:
  • Manages and is responsible for department daily operations. This includes but is not limited to production schedule, resource allocation, 5S, training and team member accountability.
  • Possesses a can-do attitude and is open to change. Focuses on situations and not people, with the goal being problem de-escalation and prompt problem resolution.
  • Develops an environment of trust that produces a productive training environment and culture for a safe workplace
  • Creates, updates and manages all departmental work instructions, forms and other documents.
  • Understands departmental targets for safety, quality, productivity and cost and takes action to improve them.
  • Clearly communicates departmental targets and schedules
  • Utilizes data along with a structured, team driven problem-solving approach to achieve department targets
  • Must be prepared daily, prior to shift, with a plan for the day that supports customer orders and any other current safety, quality, or productivity priorities. Overtime beyond the production schedule will be required at times to meet all expectations.
  • Works directly with other GLs and Managers as required to achieve daily goals. Priority must be placed on face-to-face communication and team building. Inter-departmental relationships are essential.
  • Assures all quality, process or administrative paperwork are managed, completed, stored, etc. as needed.
  • Understands and follows all company policies and procedures.
Work Conditions:
  • Open office environment, moderate to loud noise.
  • Standard automotive plan environment with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protecting, etc. Personal attire standards may apply.
  • Ability to sit, walk or stand for extensive periods of time.
  • May occasionally be required to lift up to 40 pounds.
Education:
  • High School Diploma.
Experience:
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, tooling, quality control methods and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Injection plastics and Urethane process experience a plus.
  • Previous exposure to a multicultural office environment a plus.
