Job description

SUMMARY
The Lodge at Ventana Canyon Golf & Racquet Club is seeking an experienced Assistant Golf Professional to assist in administering all daily operations including, facilitating sales, conducting golf lessons, assisting with merchandise, operating POS system, managing handicap and tee sheet applications.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assists with associate training. Work closely and communicate with all team members to enhance the club's image as a first-class facility that prides itself in exceeding member and guest expectations.
  • Assist in planning and conducting events and activities for ladies and men's associations.
  • Prepares for all golf outings including coordinating scorecards, cart signs, rules sheets, score sheets, favors, pairing sheets, and hole assignments.
  • Assist in the creation of lesson plans and provide both individual and group instruction.
  • Administers all points of sales application as it applies to green fee sales, merchandise sales, and member/guest billing. Coordinates with Accounting Departments all policy and procedure revisions and updates.
  • Assist in maintaining the overall appearance, attractiveness and cleanliness of the golf shop, merchandise, and surrounding areas.
  • Handle special orders for members by placing orders with the Merchandise Manager.
  • Ensure that golf service standards are met and all operations are run effectively and efficiently.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Reconciles daily tee sheets, performs check-in, and receives payments from members and guests. Resolves discrepancies as it applies to duplicate charges and over or under payment.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to serve the customer's need for golf merchandise, equipment, or other special requests.
  • Enhance relationships with members through golf play, teaching, and club events.
  • Enforce pace of play.
  • Clean shop displays, refold merchandise, and check-in merchandise.
  • Maintain gift certificate procedures.
  • Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the department manager.

Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop positive and ongoing relationships with members.
  • Ability to work on a team.
  • Ability to handle inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) at a proficient level.

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED; and six months Golf experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be a PGA Member or Associate in good standing.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to physically reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work under variable temperature conditions (extreme heat or cold, indoors/outdoors).
  • Prolonged periods standing or walking.
