Summary:
HII Mission Technologies is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accountant with a strong foundation in financial accounting, revenue recognition, and multi-entity reporting. The ideal candidate brings solid hands-on accounting experience, a strong grasp of GAAP, and the initiative to take ownership of assigned tasks while contributing to process improvements.
This remote role reports to the Manager of Financial Reporting, Revenue Recognition, and SOX Compliance and supports month-end close, intercompany accounting, revenue recognition activities, and ongoing enhancements within the accounting function.

What You Will Do:
• Prepare fluctuation analyses and financial schedules for assigned entities.
• Perform monthly balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.
• Review customer contracts to support proper revenue recognition under ASC 606.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account analysis.
• Assist with audit-related requests by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
• Work within ERP and consolidation systems (including OneStream) to support reporting and data accuracy.
• Build and maintain basic-to-moderate automation solutions (e.g., RPA bots, workflow automation, excel/ power query- based tools, scripts) to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
• Participate in special projects including system implementations, reporting enhancements, and internal control (SOX) initiatives.
• Uphold adherence to GAAP, internal policies, and internal control standards.
What We're Looking For:
  • 3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field.

• Strong understanding of GAAP, core accounting principles, and financial statements.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting or consolidations.
• Hands-on experience with reconciliations, close processes, and journal entries.
• Experience working with a mid-to-large ERP system.
• Ability to build or enhance accounting tools using Excel (macros, formulas, templates, Power Query, etc.).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with demonstrated attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across departments.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Experience:
  • CPA certification (or actively pursuing)
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint, OneStream, SAP or other ERP/ consolidation systems.
  • Hands-on experience with financial consolidation tools (OneStream, CFIN, SAP Analytics Cloud, etc.)
  • Experience with RPA tools or similar automation platforms.
  • Experience with technical accounting research and memo preparation
  • Experience with data visualization/ reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)

  • Candidates with experience in fast-paced environments, particularly those with Big 4 audit backgrounds, technical accounting exposure, and proficiency in ERP systems and automation tools, will excel in this role and align closely with the team's expectations.
