Best One Tire & Service/S&S Firestone, Inc. is a leading provider of products and services to trucking companies and related industries, serving the Nashville, TN area markets. We are looking to add an OTR (Off-The-Road) Tire Road Service Technician to our team.


Within this role you will be responsible for all aspects of tire and related service and repair for off-the-road equipment (construction, earthmoving, mining, farm, etc.) as well as other duties as assigned by the manager.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Must have a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle required for the position and be able to meet commercial driver qualification requirements.
  • Operation of a 55,000-pound OTR Service Boom Truck.
  • Follow established procedures to inspect tires and wheels before and after service.
  • Determine repairable tire conditions and make such repairs.
  • Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
  • Document work performed accurately and according to company policy.
  • Operation of heavy-duty tire service equipment and tools including boom cranes, cribbing, jacks, compressors, and electric and hydraulic equipment.
  • Unbolt and re-bolt wheels from/to equipment, using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools.
  • Mount and dismount any type of off-the-road tire including but not limited to multi-piece rims.
  • Match mating of dual assemblies.
  • Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size, ply, and load requirement.
  • Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects.
  • Perform service calls on nights and/or weekends on a rotating basis.
  • Proper maintenance of assigned service vehicles including an appearance as well as onboard service equipment and tools.
  • Compliance with OSHA and MSHA regulations and safety requirements pertaining to this position.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalency, and/or related experience is preferred but not required. 
  • OTR service training and certifications are preferred but not required.
  • Minimum, driving age of 23 years old.
  • Must regularly lift up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. 
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to recognize and used a variety of tools, including but not limited to power tools, and heavy-duty tire service equipment.
  • Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
