Description
The City of Lake Forest is looking for a qualified adult to instruct Mosaics courses at Stirling Hall Art Center. Instructors must have a strong knowledge base of mosaics, be professional and reliable, and display high quality customer service. Developing a strong relationship with our student base is important at Stirling Hall Art Center and our instructors are expected to be attentive, informative and helpful for our students at all times.
Examples of Duties
Responsibilities Include:
  • Inventory of supply and developing list of necessities for each session
  • Stirling Hall has a well-stocked inventory of various stained glass as well as stone tiles.

  • Instructing 1 or 2 total Mosaics sessions in the Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.
  • One class has traditionally been Thursday 6:30-8:30pm and the other Friday 12:30-2:30pm.
  • Provide the highest quality of instruction to up to 12 total students.
  • Ability to develop lesson plans and demo proper mosaic techniques.

*One hour of prep-time is paid per class
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of glass mosaics and ceramic mosaics, including glazing and firing to Cone 10 Reduction techniques.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Willingness to attend instructor meetings, substitute for classes and help with special events at the art center
  • Strong leadership skills

Requirements:
  • Applicants MUST be 18 years of age or older
  • Previous Mosaic experience is required as an instructor or student.
