Job description

OB TITLE: Engineering Tech
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager
Education: High School
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To support Knight’s Armament Company by contributing to the design and documentation of firearms manufacturing facilities by creating models and creating drawings of the facilities and its infrastructure.
SPECIAL TRAINING NEEDED:
  • 2 Years of an Engineering Principled Degree with demonstrated CAD capability. 2-4 years of relevant experience may be substituted for Degree.
  • Familiarity with metal and plastics forming techniques.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Experience in 3-D CAD design, such as Solid Edge and SolidWorks, and other engineering analysis software. ASME-Y-14.100 /
ANSI-Y-14.5 drawing terms and tolerances.
  • Knowledge of materials, cutting tools, processes, and machining.
  • Demonstrated / documented experience in design projects (cradle to grave) multiple components and assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of Bill of Material (BOM)
  • Experience in developing and maintaining a record-keeping system; proof-reading record to verify accuracy.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:
  • Produce and update drawings to ASME-Y-14.100 /ANSI-Y-14.5 format, using Solid Edge / SolidWorks 3-D CAD software.
  • Develop and update work instructions to validate concepts and coordinate testing.
  • Record or direct the recording of required data from measurements and observations with attention to archiving all relevant data, as well as producing clear, concise reports.
  • Participate in design reviews, assuring that products meet the overall design objectives and are producible, have no safety flaws and are sale-able.
  • Will at times work with project manager
  • Train others in processes and procedures as required.
  • Follow firearm safety procedures and maintain security of weapons.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of Knight Enterprises Management, LLC designs, data procedures and processes.
  • Perform costings and build routings using ERP software.
  • Assist in the creation and release of drawings pertaining to Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Engineering Initial
  • Releases (EIRs), moreover, printing and delivering engineering drawings to approved departments and personnel as required.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.
