Position Overview:
Silco Fire amp; Security is seeking a dependable and experienced Fire Sprinkler Service Technician to support our maintenance and repair operations. The Fire Sprinkler Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems to ensure customer systems remain safe, reliable, and code compliant. This role is service driven, with a strong focus on diagnosing issues, completing repairs efficiently, and clearly communicating deficiencies and next steps to customers.

This technician will also support inspection activities as needed, assisting inspection teams with testing and ensuring accurate reporting of system condition in accordance with NFPA 25 and Silco inspection standards.

At Silco, this role plays a key part in delivering prompt service, accurate reporting, and helping customers stay compliant and protected.

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair fire sprinkler systems including valves, piping, heads, risers, fire pumps, and associated components.
  • Perform service work such as leak repairs, head replacements, valve repairs, and minor system modifications.
  • Respond to service calls with urgency and professionalism, identifying root cause and restoring systems to proper operation.
  • Clearly identify, document, and communicate deficiencies found during service or inspections to support timely quoting and repair.
  • Complete service tickets, inspection reports, and deficiency documentation accurately using company systems, including iPad/SOP-driven workflows.
  • Assist inspectors with sprinkler system inspections, testing, and maintenance activities in accordance with NFPA 25.
  • Communicate directly with customers on-site, explaining system issues, deficiencies, and recommended corrective actions in a clear, professional manner.
  • Coordinate with scheduling, supervisors, and deficiency/sales teams to keep work flowing efficiently.
  • Support small projects, system modifications, and component replacements as needed.
  • Maintain working knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and system requirements.
  • Follow all company safety policies and jobsite requirements at all times.
  • Take ownership of productivity, documentation quality, and responsiveness.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; fire protection or technical training preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire sprinkler inspection, testing, service, or repair. Ohio Sprinkler Inspection License or NICET II.
  • Working knowledge of water-based fire protection systems and applicable NFPA standards, including NFPA 13, 25, and 72 as applicable.
  • Ability to read and interpret system drawings, inspection reports, and code requirements.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment related to sprinkler service work.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including customer interaction and report completion.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining productivity and compliance expectations.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training, certifications, and continuing education.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to climb ladders, use lifts, and work at various heights.
  • Able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching throughout the workday.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces or outdoor environments as needed.
  • Requires occasional pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
  • Must be able to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Capable of driving company vehicles and transporting equipment or materials when needed.
  • Ability to remain alert and focused while performing detailed or repetitive tasks.
