Job description
The purpose of this classification is to administer appropriate emergency medical treatment to victims of accidents and other life-threatening situations, assist with firefighting tasks, maintain emergency medical equipment and vehicles, and assist with emergency medical training and certification programs.
Examples of duties include leading and coordinating daily work activities, performing basic life rescue duties, providing advanced emergency medical care, communicating with medical personnel, maintaining readiness for emergency response, responding to emergency calls, maintaining knowledge of laws and regulations, processing documentation, operating computers and equipment, communicating with various individuals, and performing other related duties.
Minimum qualifications require a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by vocational or technical EMT/Paramedic training, and one year of experience in a related field. Knowledge, skill, abilities, and supplemental information include possessing a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL), completing Firefighter I certification, and holding certification as a Paramedic in the state of Georgia.
