This role is well suited to an innovative, technically strong professional who can apply fire protection principles and fire safety science to deliver practical, code-compliant solutions for the built environment. The position involves direct engagement with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary project teams, and offers opportunities for technical leadership and mentoring. • Develop fire protection engineering studies, system narratives, and compliance documentation.

  • Participate in field reviews, inspections, on-site engineering testing, and commissioning activities.

  • Coordinate fire protection scope with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams as part of integrated project delivery.

  • Represent AtkinsRealis' fire protection discipline in discussions with clients, regulators, project partners, and other key stakeholders.

  • Provide technical leadership on complex, multidisciplinary projects.

  • Mentor and support the development of junior engineers, specialists, and technologists.

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or membership with a recognized engineering or technical association is an asset.

  • 5 - 10+ years of experience in fire protection engineering, including experience independently preparing technical reports that clearly define objectives, methodology, findings, and recommendations with minimal guidance from senior team members.

  • Experience in nuclear fire protection engineering and familiarity with CSA standards (e.g., CSA N293, N393) is an asset.

  • Working knowledge of the NBCC, NFCC, provincial codes, and applicable fire protection standards, including UL, NFPA, CSA, and CAN/ULC standards. • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and senior stakeholders. Proven ability to manage differing viewpoints, present sound engineering positions, collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams, and maintain a professional, solution-focused approach.
