Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Implement the design concept through the preparation of mechanical (HVAC, Fire Protection, Plumbing and Drainage Systems) detailed design, production drawings and schematics, create specifications, and equipment selection for industrial, commercial, and/or institutional buildings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Conduct heating and cooling load calculations.
  • Work with the project team and Project Manager to ensure quality and timely delivery of projects.
  • Review shop drawings to confirm they adhere to project requirements.
  • Perform general duties as required such as printing, plotting, scanning, conversion, quantity take-offs and measurement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 4+ years’ work experience in Mechanical Design (HVAC & Plumbing emphasis).
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience working on various commercial, industrial, and/or institutional buildings.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as the Canadian National Building Code (NBC(AE)).
  • The ability to read piping sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure on various tasks.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
