This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a robust background in fire protection engineering, particularly someone with experience in Department of Defense (DoD) and Navy construction projects. The hours expected for this role will vary from 10-20 hours per week but may increase depending on customer needs and skillset of the selected candidate. **Responsibilities:****Design and Analysis:** - Develop and review fire protection system designs in accordance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G. - Perform hydraulic calculations and analyses for fire protection systems. **Compliance and Codes:** - Ensure all designs and installations comply with OPNAVINST 11320.23G, NFPA standards, and other relevant fire protection codes. - Stay updated on changes in fire protection regulations and codes. **Project Management:** - Collaborate with project teams to integrate fire protection systems into overall project plans for Navy infrastructure and buildings. - Provide technical support and guidance during the installation and commissioning phases. **Documentation:** - Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and drawings in compliance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G. - Maintain accurate records of all fire protection system designs and modifications. **Consultation:** - Offer expert advice on fire protection strategies and solutions to internal and external stakeholders, including Navy personnel. **Training and Education:** - Develop and deliver training programs for Navy personnel on fire safety and protection in accordance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G.**Qualifications:** *Required:** Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection.* Degree in Fire Protection Engineering* Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering.* Strong understanding of fire protection codes and standards, including OPNAVINST 11320.23G.* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.*Desired:** Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting software.* Knowledge of hydraulic modeling software (e.g., Hydraflow, FlowMaster). Previous experience in a similar role within the Navy or supporting Navy infrastructure and buildings.This position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately.
