The anticipated salary range for this position is between $120,600 and $134,000, depending on experience, along with a robust benefits package that includes bonuses and a 401(k) plan.

Core Purpose of the Role

This position requires a high level of expertise and in-depth knowledge in executing tasks related to the analysis, design, development, implementation, and assessment of training programs for Interior Structural Fire Brigade, Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Emergency Response, Incident Command, and Permit Required Confined Space Rescue. The role involves both the creation and delivery of classroom and practical training in these areas, as well as managing one of the specified programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance personnel performance through effective training. Organize, coordinate, and conduct performance-based training programs in line with our systematic training approach, departmental protocols, and regulatory standards. This includes practical interior structural firefighting training that necessitates the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), as well as HazMat and Confined Space Rescue training. Oversee all training activities and participants.
• Develop, update, and maintain training materials as needed, following the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation framework.
• Ensure that training programs remain current and compliant with regulations, incorporating insights from federal and state regulations, significant operating experience reports, Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) bulletins, informational notices, relevant National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, and industry best practices.
• Establish and maintain auditable training records and reports to document training program activities.
• Design, maintain, and construct training props to offer realistic, plant-like training experiences for participants.
• Travel to various facilities for benchmarking, oversight, audits, and assessments as necessary.
• Assist the fleet with business initiatives, project management, Emergency Preparedness (EP) responsibilities, and special projects.
• Perform any other job-related tasks as directed by management, including but not limited to emergency response duties, departmental coverage, and support for outage activities.

Essential Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 10 years of relevant experience OR
• Associate's degree in Fire Sciences with 8 years of relevant experience
• Fulfill the requirements of NFPA 1041 Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications, Instructor Level II
• Meet the standards of NFPA 472, Standard for Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, Technician Level
• Comply with NFPA 1006 Standard for Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications, Technician Level, Rope and Confined Space Rescue
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Fire Instructor
• Experience in emergency response operations within a power plant setting
• Familiarity with applicable regulations including NRC, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and NFPA

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a member of a community emergency response organization, either recent or current
• Strong understanding of our systematic training approach and regulatory requirements
• Completion of training in fire brigade, hazardous materials, confined space rescue team, and incident command
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
