The Engineer 3 manages all engineering aspects of fire detection and alarm and suppression projects, and overviews aspects of the work from others. Engineering activities include requirements design and shop drawing design, commissioning, and construction project close-out activities for life safety projects, which include educational, federal, transit, healthcare and information technology equipment (data center) verticals, amongst others.
Responsibilities
  • Develops engineering plan and develop and implement design of life safety projects (detection, suppression and containment).
  • Develops and implements commissioning and testing plans.
  • Provides cost estimating for multiple projects, providing input regarding schedule and times for Engineering tasks related to design, manufacturing and commissioning.
  • Provides surveys to define scope and conceptual design from existing buildings.
  • Provides ongoing site support to the system installation teams.
  • Mentors junior engineers.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering in Fire Protection, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or related discipline is required with 5+ years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer

Desired Skills:
  • Use of Pyrosim software a plus.
  • Use of EVAC software a plus.
  • NICET III or NICET IV in fire detection and alarm a strong preference.
  • NICET in sprinkler or suppression a plus.
  • Strong Oral, Written and Presentation Skills.
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
  • Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint Skills is a plus.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.

Abilities:
  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
