ABOUT THIS ROLE
At Apex Fintech Solutions, we've got an amazing track record of success and fostering ongoing innovation. Our technical writing staff sits at the leading edge of this disruption and is responsible for communicating the scope and impact of Apex's top-of-class financial infrastructure products and software solutions for technical and financial client personas. If you thrive off the energy of an enthusiastic, collaborative team and love to learn and solve problems, we want to hear from you.
As a Senior Technical Writer at Apex Fintech Solutions, you're responsible for developing technical documentation to support Apex's platform, including our APIs and the clients who use them. In addition to your expert skills in producing content for developer audiences, this role demands agility to support rapid software-development cycles. Your ingenuity and resourcefulness will be critical as you adapt to varying circumstances and shifting timelines and collaborate across multiple teams to achieve objectives. You excel in understanding the perspective of your audience, ensuring clarity and depth in your communications, and you possess keen curiosity and drive to continuously learn about the products you document.
The Senior Technical Writer role will lead the creation and evolution of technical documentation for our technology products, APIs, platforms, and client experiences. You will partner with engineers, product managers, architects, and business stakeholders to translate technical concepts into clear, accurate, user-focused content.
As a senior member of the team, you will lead by example - consistently delivering high-standard content that adheres to our writing guidelines and mentoring less experienced team members. You will also combine strong technical writing expertise with hands-on use of artificial intelligence to improve documentation quality, accelerate content development, streamline workflows, and enhance the overall experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain high-quality, client-facing API and knowledge base content that meets industry standards, keeping pace with product development teams and adhering to style guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, architecture, and client-facing teams to write API documentation and programming guides.
  • Lead documentation initiatives, make informed decisions, and drive projects to completion with minimal oversight.
  • Develop API reference documentation, integration guides, tutorials, quick starts, how-to guides, conceptual content, release documentation, and developer resources.
  • Use generative AI tools as part of the daily technical writing workflow to research, draft, restructure, analyze, summarize, and improve technical content.
  • Apply human expertise and editorial judgment to AI-generated content, ensuring accuracy, consistency, technical validity, security, and appropriate tone.
  • Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to reduce repetitive documentation tasks and improve content production efficiency.
  • Develop effective AI prompts and repeatable workflows for documentation creation, content analysis, and knowledge management.
  • Explore approaches such as structured content, metadata, reusable content components, and knowledge bases that improve content accessibility for both humans and AI systems.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher (in English, technical communications, computer science, or a similar field)
  • 7+ years of experience as a technical writer for a developer audience at a fast-paced software company
  • Proven experience writing detailed, user-centered API and programming documentation in a fast-paced software environment
  • Outstanding ability to grasp and communicate interrelationships between topics clearly and meaningfully, and to present information in a logical hierarchy and consistent manner
  • Experience using generative AI tools as part of a professional workflow, with the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated content rather than relying on it without validation
  • Confidence to advocate for yourself and for our users' needs, backing your opinions with experience and facts
  • Current knowledge of the evolving style of technical documentation and enablement resources for developer audiences
  • Ability to work in US time zones (ideally Central Standard Time)
  • Experience with Markdown or another markup language, GitHub, Jira, and Swagger
  • Familiar with one or more programming languages (Java, Go, Python, TypeScript)
  • A strong writing portfolio demonstrating these skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • An advanced degree in a related discipline
  • Programming experience beyond the baseline requirement
  • Experience with additional tools such as Postman, Confluence, or similar technologies
  • Experience developing documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience building AI prompt libraries or documentation-specific AI workflows that go beyond day-to-day use
  • Experience designing or documenting an enterprise API solution
  • Experience with a documentation portal and/or ticketing environment such as ReadMe or Zendesk
