Job description

Avant is seeking a Product Manager to shape and manage our Decisioning & Risk Platforms. You'll be responsible for owning the platforms that determine which products we offer to customers, mitigates business risk, and ensures we deliver on a trustworthy experience.

What you'll do at Avant:

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap - Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap, balancing customer experience, business growth, risk outcomes, operational efficiency, and regulatory requirements. Prioritize platform investments and enhancements based on business impact, customer needs, and data-driven insights.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner with Business Teams, Risk, Fraud, Operations, Engineering, Data Science, Compliance/Legal, and Design to identify opportunities, align priorities, define solutions, and deliver measurable business outcomes.

  • Platform Development & Modernization - Define and deliver scalable platform capabilities which could include decision orchestration, rules management, model integration, experimentation frameworks, observability, vendor integrations, and internal tooling. Drive modernization efforts that improve flexibility, speed, and reliability across the decisioning ecosystem.

  • Product Requirement Definition - Translate strategy into execution by defining product requirements, PRDs, user stories, workflows, acceptance criteria, API contracts, instrumentation requirements, rollout plans, and success metrics.

  • Product Delivery - Drive execution across the product lifecycle by prioritizing backlogs, managing tradeoffs, coordinating dependencies, removing blockers, and ensuring high-quality launches that deliver measurable value.

  • Vendor Management - Own relationships with technology partners. Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and platform capabilities that can improve decision quality, operational efficiency, and customer outcomes.

  • Performance & Analytics - Define and monitor key platform metrics and identify opportunities to continuously improve platform performance.

  • AI Iteration - Identify opportunities to leverage AI and machine learning to accelerate the roadmap.

Why you're at fit at Avant:

  • 8+ years of Product Management experience, preferably within fintech, financial services, risk, fraud, lending, banking, or other regulated industries

  • Experience owning platform products, technical products, or internal-facing systems with multiple stakeholders and customers

  • Experience working with decisioning systems, underwriting platforms, fraud prevention systems, identity verification solutions, rules engines, or risk management platforms

  • Strong technical fluency, including APIs, data models, distributed systems, system architecture, and platform design tradeoffs

  • Highly data-driven with strong analytical skills; SQL proficiency required

  • Experience partnering with Data Science, Analytics, or Risk teams to deploy, evaluate, and optimize models in production

  • Demonstrated ability to define product strategy, execute against roadmaps, and deliver measurable business outcomes

  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience designing and analyzing experiments, A/B tests, and optimization initiatives

  • Experience managing third-party vendors, integrations, and external technology partnerships preferred

  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory considerations within financial services environments preferred

  • Hands-on experience leveraging AI-native tools (e.g., AI-powered analytics, research, coding, workflow automation, or decision-support tools) and a demonstrated ability to incorporate them into product development and operational processes

This role is based on our downtown Chicago Office, located in the Merchandise Mart. We highly value collaboration and our hybrid schedule (M, T, Th in-office) enables flexibility to balance work and individual priorities.

Compensation Range:

The base salary range for this job is USD $95,000 - USD $135,000/ Year

Employees new to Avant typically come in below the midpoint of the pay range. The compensation range is based on the level outlined in the job posting, and compensation decisions are dependent on each applicant's experience, skills and abilities.

This role is eligible for additional incentives, including an annual bonus. These rewards are allocated based on level, impact and performance in the role.
