Job Description:

Seize your opportunity to make a personal impact as a FinOps Analyst, supporting CMS Cloud Product Tools. GDIT is your place to make meaningful contributions to challenging projects and grow a rewarding career.
At GDIT, people are our differentiator. The FinOps Analyst, will work with assigned customers on leveraging optimization strategies and tactics that will directly lead to more efficient workloads and lower spend. They will be the billing expert available for training customers on understanding Cloud usage and patterns and champion and advocate for the use of our automated tools. This individual will also provide financial operations training, drive user experience improvements, adoption of processes and FinOps education.

In this role you may also support the CMS Hybrid Cloud team in delivering highly communicative and financial reports that provide customers with their usage, monthly billing and funding utilization. Candidates must be able to communicate well with their customers throughout their Cloud journey.

Successful candidates are eager to take the initiative on a very large Cloud resell program where optimization and attention to detail is crucial.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Assisting coworkers with collecting and reviewing financial data from various Cloud sources. (i.e. AWS Cost Explorer (and equivalents), Custom Tools, & Cloud native cost management tools)
  • Creates, maintains, updates financial deliverables via JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft excel or other financial dashboards
  • Analyzes customer cloud requirements and provide technical knowledge on cloud computing techniques and technologies of low- moderate complexity. Example: AWS Savings Plans and Reserved Instances
  • Research, evaluate, and deploy cloud computing optimization techniques. Example: Low Utilization of Cloud Resources
  • Assists with the management of various master payer account(s) with 100+ linked accounts
  • Extensive & timely customer service responses
  • Experience that would be a discriminator: Oracle Cloud (OCI) or GCP
  • Cost analysis using deep understanding of Cost usage reports
  • Participates in special projects as required

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
  • Required Experience: 1+ years relevant experience in Cloud or Financial Operations, flexible for the right person
  • Required Technical Skills: FinOps Experience required; experience w/AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud (OCI), or GCP Cost analysis using deep understanding of Cost usage reports
  • Attributes for Success: Effective communication skills both orally and written; Effective organizational skills
  • Preferred Skills: 2+ years experience preferred; FinOps Practitioner Certification; FinOps experience with hands on keyboard capabilities to drive analysis and recommendations that directly lead to more efficient and lower cost infrastructure; Understanding of Cloud Technologies; Expert level experience with Microsoft Excel; Analytic/ queries understanding for cloud billing
  • Location:100% remote working; required to be onsite once a year, as requested

  • Security Clearance Level: Requires a Public Trust which will require you to provide onsite fingerprinting, at a designated facility. This investigation may review personal and criminal behavior, financial conduct, foreign influence, as well as other adjudications

  • Residence Requirement: Applicants shall have lived in the United States at least 3 out of the last 5 years prior to going through the public trust background investigation and submitting an application for a Federal ID Card. Work visa sponsorship will not be considered for this role.

The likely salary range for this position is $72,877 - $98,598. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
