Location: Las Vegas, NV (Hybrid)
Type: Direct Hire
Industry: Enterprise / Technology

Position Overview

Fusion HCR is seeking a highly senior Cloud Engineer to lead the design, governance, and standardization of a growing cloud environment for a large enterprise organization.

This is not a hands-on execution-only role - this individual will play a key role in defining how cloud is built, governed, and scaled across the organization. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in Azure, understands cloud at a hyperscale level, and has experience implementing guardrails, standards, and best practices that ensure environments are built correctly from the ground up.

This role will also support the organization's growing maturity in FinOps, helping balance cost optimization with performance and scalability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement cloud architecture standards, governance models, and guardrails across the Azure environment
  • Establish best practices to ensure cloud environments are secure, scalable, and cost-efficient by design
  • Partner with engineering and infrastructure teams to guide and influence cloud adoption and execution
  • Provide expertise in hyperscale Azure environments, including performance and cost optimization strategies
  • Support FinOps initiatives, driving visibility into cloud spend and aligning cost with business value
  • Contribute to and support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices across the environment
  • Evaluate and recommend cloud services and architecture patterns for new and existing solutions
  • Document standards, architecture decisions, and operating procedures for cross-team adoption
  • Collaborate with leadership and C-level stakeholders to align cloud strategy with business goals

Qualifications / Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure, or related field
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in enterprise environments
  • Deep understanding of cloud architecture, governance, and environment design
  • Experience with hyperscale cloud concepts, including:
    • DTU and performance tuning
    • Elastic pools
    • API Management
    • Reserved instances and cost optimization strategies
  • Experience supporting or working within DevOps / CI/CD pipeline environments
  • Exposure to or experience with FinOps practices (cost optimization, budgeting, forecasting)
  • Strong understanding of cloud security and best practices
  • Experience documenting standards, processes, and architecture
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with executive leadership
  • Must obtain or be willing to obtain AZ-900 (Azure Fundamentals) certification

Nice to Have
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, etc.)
  • Exposure to AI / emerging technologies in cloud environments
