How You’ll Contribute:

As a Financial Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis, you’ll support the Sr. Manager and VP of Financial Planning & Analysis, as well as the Chief Accounting Officer, in driving company-wide financial planning, forecasting, and analytical initiatives. You’ll leverage advanced Excel and Power BI skills to build models, develop forecasts, and create insightful reports. Your work will support decision-making across departments including Financial Reporting, Investment Accounting, Treasury, Actuarial, and Tax.

What You’ll Do (All Levels):

  • Support the development and maintenance of company forecasts, financial plans, business plans, and capital plans
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis, including monitoring key performance indicators, identifying trends, and analyzing unexpected variances
  • Build, maintain, and enhance financial models using advanced Excel tools and other business intelligence applications
  • Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and other management reporting tools
  • Partner with departments across the organization to gather, analyze, and validate data used in planning, forecasting, reporting, and ad hoc analysis
  • Partner with Investment Accounting and the Front Office to develop investment analytics and support the investment planning process
  • Support capital planning and analysis, including applicable regulatory and rating agency capital frameworks
  • Prepare presentations and financial materials for senior management, the Board of Directors, rating agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Work with data and technology partners to improve the quality, accessibility, and effectiveness of information used for reporting, forecasting, and decision-making
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, increase efficiency, and enhance documentation
  • Provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis to support organizational priorities

Salary Range: $65,658.00-$90,280.00

  • 2+ years of financial planning & analysis, finance, or related experience
  • Supports monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis and reporting
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of forecasts, financial plans, and capital plans
  • Develops and maintains financial models, Power BI reporting, and organizational or departmental KPIs
  • Supports research and monitoring of changes to regulatory and rating agency capital requirements
  • Partners with business areas to gather and analyze information used in forecasts, plans, and other financial analysis
  • Supports senior team members on departmental and Company initiatives
  • Monitors financial performance, identifies trends and variances, and helps translate findings into actionable information
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement, automation, and enhanced documentation

Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis

Salary Range: $86,833.00-119,395.00

  • 3+ years of financial planning & analysis, finance, or related experience
  • Demonstrated experience assisting with or leading the development and completion of forecasts, budgets, financial models, and other planning activities
  • Takes greater ownership of financial modeling, forecasting, reporting, and analytical deliverables
  • Actively contributes to the development of the Company’s multi-year business plan, including statutory and embedded value planning
  • Builds and enhances planning models using advanced Excel, Power Query, Power BI, and other business intelligence tools
  • Develops and maintains projected cash flow models and contributes to Company capital modeling
  • Leads or independently performs investment analysis and partners with Investment Accounting and the Front Office on the investment plan
  • Advises and supports department managers throughout the forecasting and planning process
  • Synthesizes financial and operational data into clear insights and recommendations for management
  • Prepares and supports presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors
  • Leads or contributes to process improvements, automation, controls, and documentation initiatives
  • Serves as a collaborative resource to other team members and business partners and may provide guidance or mentorship on projects and analytical work

    What You’ll Bring:

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field
    • CPA, CFA, FRM, LOMA designation, or progress toward a relevant professional designation is a plus

        Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

        • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills
        • Strong understanding of financial statements, financial metrics, and underlying business processes
        • Ability to analyze and synthesize large data sets into meaningful insights that support informed decision-making
        • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
        • Effective written and verbal communication skills
        • Ability to develop positive working relationships across departments and organizational levels
        • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively
        • Advanced working knowledge of Excel
        • Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Power BI, ERP systems, and other accounting and finance applications

        • Life insurance and/or annuity industry experience is preferred

          Physical Requirements:

          • Primarily sedentary work with frequent sitting and computer use

          • Occasional standing, walking, reaching, bending, and other routine office movement

          Compensation and Pay Philosophy: 
          The pay range for this role is either $65,658.00-$90,280.00 for an Analyst or $86,833.00-119,395.00 for an Senior Analyst. This reflects the expected compensation for the position at the time of posting. The final offer will be based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity, and may be higher or lower than the posted range. The pay range is subject to change in the future in accordance with applicable laws. EquiTrust is committed to fair and competitive compensation that considers individual and organizational needs.
