Financial Wellness Associate information

What is a financial wellness associate?

A Financial Wellness Associate is a professional who helps individuals or employees improve their financial health by providing guidance on budgeting, saving, debt management, and general financial literacy. They often work for financial institutions, benefits providers, or large employers, and may deliver one-on-one consultations, workshops, or educational resources. Their goal is to empower people to make informed financial decisions and reduce financial stress, ultimately enhancing overall well-being and productivity.

How does a financial wellness associate typically collaborate with other departments to support clients' financial goals?

As a Financial Wellness Associate, collaboration with departments such as lending, investment services, and customer service is common. Youโ€™ll often work closely with these teams to provide holistic advice, ensuring clients receive comprehensive solutions tailored to their needs. This may involve coordinating workshops, referring clients to specialized advisors, or sharing client insights to improve service offerings. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as your role acts as a bridge connecting clients with the right internal resources for their financial wellbeing.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a financial wellness associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Financial Wellness Associate, you need a solid understanding of personal finance, financial planning, and customer service, often supported by a degree in finance, business, or a related field. Familiarity with financial planning software, CRM systems, and possibly certifications like AFC (Accredited Financial Counselor) are commonly required. Strong interpersonal skills, active listening, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly are essential soft skills. These abilities are crucial for effectively supporting clients in achieving their financial goals and building trust-based client relationships.

Industry: Financial Services / Wellness and Fitness Services

Salary Range: $58,000 โ€“ $72,000/yr

Job Description

What if your next presentation could change someoneโ€™s financial life โ€” and you could measure exactly how?

My Secure Advantage (MSA) has spent 25+ years helping people go from financially stressed to financially confident. We partner with employers, retirement advisors, and employee assistance programs across the country to deliver coaching and education that actually moves the needle โ€” for members and the companies that sponsor them.

Weโ€™re about 115 people strong, spread across 27 states, headquartered right here in Roseville. Weโ€™re small enough that your work is visible and large enough that your impact scales.

The Role

Weโ€™re hiring an Associate Financial Wellness Specialist to join our Education team in Roseville, CA. Youโ€™ll deliver financial wellness presentations โ€” virtual and in-person โ€” that do more than inform. They activate. Your goal is to move people from curiosity to commitment: scheduling their first coaching session, completing an assessment, or taking a concrete next step.

This is a growth-track position. Youโ€™ll start as an Associate with handsโ€‘on mentorship and clear benchmarks, with a defined path to our full Financial Wellness Specialist role.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Deliver dynamic financial wellness presentations (virtual and in-person) on topics from budgeting and credit to retirement planning and investments
  • Connect with audiences through storytelling and interactive engagement that drives real next-step action
  • Represent MSA at client events, building trust with sponsors through consistently excellent delivery
  • Track conversion metrics and event feedback to continuously sharpen your approach
  • Collaborate with the Education team to evolve content based on what youโ€™re seeing in the field
  • Stay current on financial wellness trends and share insights with the team
How We Measure Success

Weโ€™re transparent about what โ€œgoodโ€ looks like here. In addition to other team metrics, these are the metrics youโ€™ll own:

  • 15% of event attendees schedule a coaching session within 14 days
  • 20% take a meaningful next step within 7 days
  • Event NPS of 70+ and Speaker NPS of 75+
  • 80% of event hosts rebook within 30 days
Who You Are
  • A compelling presenter who can make retirement planning feel as engaging as a TED Talk
  • Grounded in financial knowledge โ€” budgeting, credit, debt, retirement, investments โ€” enough to be credible without being boring
  • Hungry to grow, coachable, and selfโ€‘aware about where youโ€™re still developing
  • Someone who genuinely cares about the people in the audience, not just the metrics
What You Bring

Required:

  • 1โ€“3 years presenting, training, or facilitating groups (virtual and in-person)
  • Strong foundational knowledge of personal finance, retirement, or investments
  • Comfort with virtual platforms (Zoom, WebEx, GoToWebinar)
  • Based in or willing to relocate to the greater Sacramento/Roseville area

Preferred:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance, Business, Communications, or Education
  • Series 65 license or relevant investment credentials (or willingness to obtain)
  • 5+ years in financial services, retirement planning, or financial education
Compensation

$58,000 โ€“ $72,000 base salary depending on experience and credentials, plus a performance bonus of $3,000 โ€“ $5,000 tied to your presentation impact metrics. Candidates with a Series 65 or equivalent credentials may qualify for the upper end of the range.

Benefits
  • medical insurance
  • dental insurance
  • vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • paid vacation
  • sick leave
  • access to MSAโ€™s own financial coaching benefit
Work Environment
  • Hybrid โ€” Roseville office 3+ days/week
  • Some regional travel for in-person events
  • Occasional early mornings or evenings for client schedules
Why MSA

This isnโ€™t a dead-end associate role. Itโ€™s a launchpad. Weโ€™ve mapped the trajectory to Financial Wellness Specialist, and weโ€™ll invest in getting you there. Youโ€™ll work alongside a collaborative team that celebrates wins (we use Nectar for peer recognition), and your daily work measurably improves real peopleโ€™s financial lives.

If youโ€™re looking for a role where what you do every day actually matters โ€” where you can see the impact in the data and feel it in the room โ€” weโ€™d love to hear from you.
