Job Description Summary:

The Financial Service Representative is responsible for soliciting, accepting, processing (inputting the loan application on the loan system), analyzing and reviewing loan applications.  Upon approval from the Underwriting Dept., disburse loan funds and fully explain loan disclosures.  Encourage member payment protection participation and other lending-related add-ons, such as GAP and Warranty.  Develop and present loan counteroffers when appropriate.  Build and maintain loan files and documents.  Provide guidance to members with respect to their credit and borrowing needs.  Assist in opening new share accounts as well as assisting members with all related account products including online banking and debit cards.  Enthusiastically support the credit union’s focus on member sales and service.  Participate in the credit union’s strategic goals to help increase market share by cross-selling other products and services to meet member needs, creating a positive experience.  Promote and strive to create a world class experience for members. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Face-to-face, telephone and online accepting, disbursing and documenting all loan applications.
  • Cross-sell other credit union loan and deposit products.
  • Open new accounts and assist members with account discrepancies
  • When needed, maintain a balanced cash drawer, and be held accountable for its care, custody and control
  • Perform such duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisor which are commensurate with the position.

Expectations:

  • To provide applicants with information regarding the loan application process.
  • To analyze applicants’ credit reports to determine where potential business from other financial institutions can be captured.
  • To be proficient in and follow the federal regulations and credit union policies and procedures that affect job duties, including but not limited to Reg. Z.
  • To complete monthly incentive reports to be given to management.
  • To complete all assignments and training in the required time frame.
  • To provide friendly, professional and accurate service and support to all members and associates.
  • Must maintain notary and NMLS status.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience
  • Education:  Two years of higher education or trade school experience.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must demonstrate high level of diplomacy and trust; along with having excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Have the ability to work with staff to resolve issues.  Obtaining cooperation internally and externally is an important part of the job.
  • Other Skills:  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.  Typing and 10 key experience are also required.

Schedule:

  • This position requires working every Saturday. The branch is closed on Wednesdays, providing a consistent weekday off.
