Job description

Job Duties: Associate, Enterprise Risk with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, New York. Support day to day responsibilities and strategic priorities of the Climate Risk program. Support the Head of Climate Risk and work with the broader team to execute strategic initiatives as the program expands, in consideration of new regulatory feedback and industry changes. Prepare regulatory submissions as part of the ongoing supervision process, regulatory examinations and other regulatory deliverables. Monitor the changing regulatory landscape including reviewing and providing feedback through internal working groups and external industry forums to help shape the further development of the Climate program. Drive implementation of climate considerations into first and second lines of defense processes. Contribute to the design of the Risk Appetite Statement framework, including calibrating limits and monitoring utilization reports. Partner with quant team to understand use of climate risk models and scenario capabilities to inform views of portfolio risks. Manage internal risk frameworks and processes including risk identification. Contribute to Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee materials, regulatory submissions, and external disclosures.  Maintain relationships with key stakeholders across Sustainable Finance Group, Controllers, Office of Government and Regulatory Affairs and Legal.

Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Business, Sustainability, Mathematics, or related analytical field and three (3) years in the job offered or in a related role. Prior experience must include three (3) years with: orchestrating and leading strategic discussions with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders, effectively communicating complex climate and risk insights. Demonstrating exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to influence critical decisions pertaining to climate strategy and risk management; and possessing a comprehensive understanding of both traditional financial risk disciplines (e.g., credit, market, operational, liquidity risk) and non-financial risk disciplines (e.g., reputational risk, strategic risk), including their intersection with climate-related risks. Applying this knowledge to analyze and assess a broad spectrum of financial products, including loans, derivatives, and structured finance instruments. Prior experience must include one (1) year with: working within the Financial Services/Banking industry, specifically focused on driving climate and sustainability initiatives; developing and implementing robust quantitative and qualitative methodologies for assessing and managing complex climate-related risks, encompassing both transition and physical risk exposures across diverse portfolios; evaluating and interpreting evolving US and non-US regulatory mandates and supervisory expectations (e.g., ECB, PRA) pertaining to climate and sustainability. Conducting comprehensive gap assessments, leading to the development and implementation of strategic adjustments that ensured full adherence to new regulatory requirements; contributing to the development and submission of mandatory and voluntary sustainability reports (e.g., TCFD) enhancing transparency and stakeholder engagement. Performing in-depth sustainability disclosure benchmarking across the financial services industry, identifying best practices and informing strategic improvements in reporting standards; leveraging analytical tools such as R or Excel to meticulously analyze large datasets, integrating credit risk exposures with climate risk indicators; proactively identifying climate-related risks and formulated actionable data-driven recommendations, enhancing operational effectiveness. Successfully managing multiple concurrent assignments with competing priorities, consistently delivering high-quality deliverables within established deadlines; and possessing knowledge of carbon-intensive sectors (e.g., energy, power, auto manufacturing) and their unique challenges in the transition to a low-carbon economy and applying this knowledge in evaluating and developing viable decarbonization pathways.

Salary Range: Annual base salary for this New York, New York -based position is $127,000 - $140,000.
