Responsible for ongoing management, the bank's Model Risk Management Program including continuous enhancements in compliance with applicable regulations and industry practices. The incumbent will be responsible for leadership of the Model Risk Management program and other operational risk programs as defined. This position will create and drive policies, program, oversight and reporting in line with regulatory expectations and industry best practice.
The incumbent will establish cross-functional partnerships with various Business Lines to ensure strong communication, partnership and a consistent application of Program requirements and reporting. As needed, the incumbent will also maintain partnerships with third-party providers utilized to carry out certain elements of the program, most notably model validations. As the Manager of the Model Risk Program, the incumbent may also develop and maintain oversight of offshore resources utilized to carry out certain elements of the program as deemed necessary by Senior Risk Management.
Additionally, the incumbent will use a logical, risk-based thought process and experience to perform independent analytics and effective challenge that will assist management with risk identification, root cause analysis, and ongoing monitoring of overall risk profiles. This role will be a liaison with independent testing and regulatory bodies for review and oversight along with support of Senior Risk Management for committee and board reports.

Job Description Summary

  • Perform as Model Risk Management expert for all Business Lines; provide objective and independent support, challenge and guidance on Model Risk Programs and risk management practices.
  • Lead the Model Risk Management Team and Program / Framework, ensure quality implementation, comprehensiveness and value to Business Lines, and continue to strategically advance the Framework in line with organizational needs, scale and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure ongoing oversight and deliverance of an effective risk management monitoring program through review, metrics, analysis and preparation of qualitative/quantitative risk assessments and reporting.
  • Remain current with Model Risk regulatory guidance and industry best practices as well as emerging industry-wide risks via public domain, industry-specific organizations, and internal contacts.
  • Provide leadership, tactical support and expert risk advisory on various Business Line and/or Company-wide initiatives and projects; use sound risk-based decision making, experience and judgment in responding to inquiries of moderate to high risk and complexity.
  • Lead and/or actively serve on corporate governance committees/forums/working groups on behalf of the Risk Management function.
  • The incumbent will be a liaison with independent testing and regulatory bodies for review and oversight along with support of Senior Risk management for committee and board reporting.
  • Provides training, development opportunities and professional guidance including risk appetite statements, risk assessments, and other operational risk as defined.


Education:
Bachelor's degree-or an equivalent combination of education and experience-in Audit, Compliance, Risk, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Accounting required.
Experience

  • 8+ years financial services industry with some specific senior-level responsibilities related to Model or Operational Risk Management programs and practices; advanced understanding of operational risk, related control frameworks and practices, and existing and pending regulatory requirements.
  • Less than 2 years Project Management or Leadership covering cross-functional projects with proven ability to develop and execute tactical plans - Preferred
  • Less than 2 years Interacting with and influencing leadership - Preferred
