Job description

Are you passionate about driving financial planning and making a meaningful impact in your community?

At Habitat for Humanity of Seattle-King & Kittitas Counties, one of the largest Habitat affiliates in the country, we're looking for dynamic, solutions-oriented professionals who thrive in fast-paced environments, embrace challenges, and are dedicated to generating a lasting impact on affordable homeownership in the Puget Sound. Since 1986, we've created 1,000 housing solutions for more than 2,600 people and successfully advocated for fair housing policies at the city, county, and state levels. As we set our sights on doubling our impact and serving an additional 2,000 people by 2030, we need the right team members to help us get there.Learn more about our work atwww.habitatskc.org.

Support the Finance team and FP&A Manager & CFO in carrying out the responsibilities of the finance department, ensuring that financial records and forecasts are accurate, consistent with accounting standards for nonprofit organizations, and aligned with our core values to lead with service, respect all people, build community, and deliver results. This role owns the rolling cash flow forecast and partners with department heads to establish reliable projections, monitor results against plan, document variances, and explain changes. The analyst compiles and reconciles data from NetSuite, Salesforce, Smartsheet, Excel, and other sources to provide leadership with accurate cash flow insight, risks, and recommended actions. Responsibilities also include scenario analysis, monthly reporting, project-level cash tracking, and process improvement in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment.

Your Impact:

  • Own the organization's rolling cash flow model end-to-end; build, maintain, document, and refine the forecast to ensure liquidity visibility, forecast accuracy, and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Serve as the organization's subject matter expert on cash flow forecasting methodology, assumptions, and drivers, and act as the primary point of contact for leadership questions on cash position, runway, and timing of inflows and outflows.
  • Partner with department heads and project managers to translate operating budgets, project timelines, grant schedules, and operational plans into timing-accurate cash inflow and outflow projections, with clearly documented assumptions, owners, and due dates.
  • Drive accountability for accurate, complete, and timely department projections by leading forecast reviews, challenging unsupported assumptions, following up on updates, and escalating material gaps or missed commitments to Finance& Operations leadership.
  • Conduct scenario analysis, sensitivity modeling, and what-if projections on cash position to support strategic planning, resource allocation, and liquidity risk management, including stress-testing against delayed receipts, cost overruns, and funding gaps.
  • Prepare and deliver the monthly cash flow reporting package for executive leadership, with clear commentary on variances from plan, trends, assumption changes, forward-looking risks, and recommended actions.
  • Monitor actual-to-forecast and actual-to-plan variances; identify when and where changes arise; quantify impacts; diagnose root causes; and document findings for Finance and executive leadership. Partner with department heads to explain why performance changed and what actions or decisions are needed.
  • Compile, reconcile, and validate financial and operational data from NetSuite, Salesforce, Smartsheet, Excel, and other sources to create an accurate view of cash flow and organizational performance, resolving inconsistencies before reporting.
  • Develop dashboards, KPIs, and visualization tools to give leadership timely visibility into cash position, working capital, project-level cash performance, funding timing, forecast accuracy, and material variances.
  • Track cash flow at the project level, ensuring detailed visibility into draw schedules, revenue receipts, cost allocations, changes in project assumptions, and variances from project cash budgets.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Programs, Construction, Fundraising, and Operations to align cash flow planning with fundraising timing, program delivery, construction draws, and operational changes, ensuring the financial narrative reflects the best available information.
  • Lead or support special projects related to long-term financial sustainability, capital planning, debt and credit facility management, and organizational growth, with cash flow modeling and variance analysis as the analytical backbone.
  • Improve cash flow forecasting tools, systems, controls, and processes. Serve as a NetSuite power user to pull, reconcile, and automate data feeds and improve integration with Salesforce, Smartsheet, Excel, and other systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting or Finance. Related education and experience may substitute for degree requirements.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of FP&A, treasury, or finance experience, including ownership of cash flow forecasting and partnership with department leaders on projections and performance. Construction accounting or project-based cash forecasting is highly desired; nonprofit experience is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills (pivots, lookups, index/match, dynamic arrays, scenario tables, and dashboards) are essential. NetSuite expertise is essential; experience with Salesforce, Smartsheet, Raiser's Edge, or similar fundraising and operational systems is preferred.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain complex, living financial models with well-documented assumptions, controls, and data sources.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to reconcile multiple systems, identify inconsistencies and emerging variances, determine root causes, and translate data into accurate narratives about cash position, risk, and recommended action.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead forecast and variance review conversations, hold stakeholders accountable to projections and commitments, ask direct and constructive questions, and escalate material issues appropriately.
  • Exceptional cross-functional business-partnering skills, with the ability to build trust, influence without direct authority, and create shared understanding across finance and non-finance teams.
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving, high-expectations culture that emphasizes accuracy, responsiveness, ownership, and follow-through.
  • Mission-driven and motivated by Habitat's impact, with a commitment to lead with service, respect all people, build community, and deliver results.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and highly organized, with the ability to meet deadlines, manage diverse projects, see the big picture, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Superior analytical, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including the ability to present variance narratives, risks, and recommended actions to non-finance audiences and executive leadership.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt to evolving priorities, exercise sound judgment, and maintain grace under pressure.
