Job description

Role Overview

The Vice President, Finance Strategy & Execution, is a leadership role responsible for defining, shaping, and executing the future-state Finance operating model. Positioned outside of regular Finance production work, this role is focused on change, and how Finance evolves as a functional and strategic partner to support the wider Finance organization.

The VP will serve as a finance transformation change leader, agent, strategist, and architect, working closely with Finance, Technology, Operations, and enterprise strategy teams. The role integrates strategic vision with pragmatic execution, helping to ensure Finance evolves towards its strategic Target Operating Model (TOM) while maintaining strong control, integrity, and flexibility.

This position is foundational to building a modern and functional Finance Strategy & Execution organization-one that helps design the future of the Finance organization, positions Finance competitively throughout the firm and develops Finance leaders.

Core Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leader & Change Driver

  • Shape and engineer the future of Finance, defining the enterprise-wide operating model.

  • Drive the design of the strategic vision and realization of complex Finance transformation initiatives, with clear accountability for outcomes and value realization.

  • Translate enterprise and Finance strategy into clear, multi-year transformation agendas.

  • Act as a thought partner to Financial Controllers, Accounts Payable, and FP&A teams in a complex and continuously evolving environment.

  • Demonstrate ability to apply fit-for-purpose methods aligned to initiative complexity and risk.

  • Actively manage risks, issues, and remediation actions across a portfolio of initiatives.

  • Strengthen organizational capability to sustain long-term transformation and innovation.

2. Transformation Architect & Solution Mindset

  • Contributes to the overall transformation architecture, ensuring coherence and compliance across the operating model.

  • Define solution intent, design principles, and target-state outcomes while ensuring solutions remain executable.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into functional and technical solutions.

  • Lead cross functional working sessions focused on future-state design, decision-making, and adoption.

  • Drive integration and simplification across core Finance platforms (e.g., G/L, sub-ledgers, consolidation, planning, reconciliation) to reduce complexity and manual intervention.

  • Ensure solutions are designed for scale, adaptability, and long-term sustainability.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor for Finance leadership and partner for Technology, articulating the strategic rationale, design choices, and trade-offs underlying transformation decisions.

3. AI & Automation Enablement

  • Integrate the AI-enabled Finance vision, embedding advanced analytics and intelligent capabilities into the operating model.

  • Identify and scale high-impact use cases for AI, including predictive forecasting, anomaly detection, and intelligent reconciliation.

  • Shape the data architecture required to enable enterprise-grade analytics and decision intelligence.

  • Shift Finance from a reactive mindset to forward-looking, insight-driven, and performance focused organization.

  • Reimagine Finance processes through an automation-first lens, eliminating manual effort and redesigning workflows.

  • Embed AI fluency and digital capability into Finance ways of working and talent models.

  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies to sustain competitive advantage.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience across Financial Accounting, Finance Transformation / Strategy, or similar advisory roles within complex financial institutions.

  • Deep knowledge across Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, FP&A.

  • Proven experience designing and leading large-scale Finance transformations, not simply managing delivery.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate credibly at both high-level strategic and detailed architecture levels.

  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and influencing capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional certification.

  • Experience with major Finance platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, OneStream).

  • Practical experience leveraging automation, solutioning and AI within Finance or adjacent functions.

  • Experience operating within Agile or hybrid delivery environments.

Key Competencies

  • Strategic and architectural leadership that defines direction and guides execution.

  • Analytical and insight-led thinking and leadership.

  • Change leadership and influence at all levels of organization.

  • Ability to interact with Technology fluently.

  • Clear, confident communication to various stakeholders and levels of organization.

Success Measures

  • Progression towards adoption of future-state Finance operating model.

  • Adoption, value realization, and business impact of Finance Transformation initiatives.

  • Sustained reduction in manual effort through automation and AI-enabled capabilities and utilization.

  • Strong stakeholder feedback and engagement.

  • Strength of the Finance transformation leadership pipeline.

The expected base salary ranges from $115,000 - $180,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, including Medical, Dental and 401K plans, successful candidates are also eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
