About the Role
The Daily Grace Co. is seeking an Acquisitions Editor to identify, evaluate, and acquire high-quality Bible studies, trade books, and theological resources that align with our mission, statement of faith, and publishing strategy. This role is central to expanding our publishing program by discovering new voices and moving proposals from submission to acquisition.
The ideal candidate will be audience- and market-aware, strategic, and driven, with strong editorial judgment, excellent theological discernment, and a proven track record of signing books that advance both mission and financial goals. You will collaborate closely with cross-departmental teams to ensure each acquisition meets editorial, theological, and market standards.

You are a results-oriented acquisitions professional who loves working with authors to bring biblically faithful and engaging content to life. You thrive on proactively managing multiple projects, taking initiative, and driving acquisitions to completion. You have experience negotiating contracts, managing financial aspects of projects, and ensuring that each acquisition contributes meaningfully to both the mission and financial goals of the publishing program.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in theology, publishing, English, or a related field required; Master's preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in book publishing, acquisitions, or developmental editing
  • Deep theological understanding aligned with The Daily Grace Co.'s statement of faith
  • Proven track record of signing books that fit mission and financial goals
  • Experience negotiating contracts and preparing P&L considerations for publishing projects
  • Knowledge of the Christian publishing landscape and its audiences
  • Excellent editorial judgment, written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to proactively manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Awareness of emerging publishing technologies and AI integration tools that can enhance efficiency, proposal evaluation, and market research

Responsibilities
  • Identify, evaluate, and acquire high-quality Bible studies, trade books, and theological resources
  • Contract 30+ titles per year that meet theological, editorial, and market standards
  • Negotiate contracts and manage author agreements in collaboration with the Director of Acquisitions
  • Provide developmental feedback and guidance to authors during early development stages
  • Prepare acquisition recommendations and market/financial assessments for review by leadership
  • Collaborate with editorial, marketing, and design teams to ensure smooth handoffs and successful project launches
  • Monitor market trends to inform future acquisitions
  • Maintain organized records of submissions, contracts, and acquisitions pipeline
  • Contribute insights and recommendations in departmental and cross-departmental meetings
  • Create and refine acquisitions processes to ensure efficiency, consistency, and clarity
  • Other duties as assigned
