Job description

Role and Scope of Position:

Eversource is seeking an Associate, Financial Analyst to join its Investment Planning team supporting the natural Gas operations business in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, inquisitive and organized with keen attention to detail. Successful candidates will be focused on compiling and coordinating operational and accounting/financial information related to natural gas rate cases, annual reconciliations and regulatory plans. Prepares other miscellaneous monthly, quarterly and annual compliance filing requirements. Maintains appropriate revenue reconciliation models and procedures which comply with regulatory policies and company tariffs. Position is responsible for assisting in budgets and monthly financial closing activities.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide documentation for various regulatory filings
  • Develops and maintains appropriate revenue reconciliation models and procedures which comply with regulatory policies and company tariffs
  • Regulatory research skills:
    • Ability to interpret and relate complex information in a user-friendly manner
    • Solid problem-solving skills
  • Responsible for producing Monthly Financial Reports for the businesses.
  • Supports the annual budget process to assist in the completion of each major budget management task.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:Technical Knowledge/Skill:
  • Strong knowledge of basic accounting theory, accounting practices/procedures
  • Strong knowledge, experience and demonstrated ability in all areas of financial reporting, analyses and financial model management
  • Financial acumen including a basic understanding of financial concepts and financial modeling
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills including the ability to draw sound conclusions
  • Demonstrated skill working with large computer databases and data file manipulation
  • Demonstrated skill with MS Office applications (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPlan) as well as Internet-based tools and resources
  • Strong detail orientation as well as the ability to be thorough and precise
  • Ability to multi-task and shift among multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with others
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a closely related discipline required. Active work towards or completion of a related advanced degree preferred.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA and CT as necessary.
